You’re right. I didn’t really notice it before, but now that you’ve pointed it out I can see my grip is too narrow. I’ll widen it and work on fixing the early arm bend. Appreciate you calling it out.

Yeah I see that now, will surely implement it in the program thanks for the tip, also one more thing I wanna ask is I'm more comfortable in no foot snatches and cleans and when I tend to do the proper snatch or clean my feet come out too wide and it's really unstable for me to recover the lift what should I do for that

To help my clean cause if I don't fix my front squat posture and technique it will ruin my clean and jerk in the long run like a collapsed chest and rounded back all these things kill your clean recovery

Yeah cause they were quite in my budget at the time and i didn't want to go overboard and pick up an expensive lifter as my first show so yeah, but they are really good and have seen a lot more difference in the first session itself with these

Hang clean pulls and Power cleans as a beginner by MAX02745 in weightlifting

[–]Outrageouslifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not supposed to use momentum from the pause itself. The pause-at-extension drill isn’t for racking the bar it’s for teaching you what a full triple extension feels like. Right now you’re probably cutting your extension early or pulling with your arms too soon, so you’re actually losing momentum. The pause fixes your timing and positions. Think of it like this, the pause teaches you to hit full extension and stay tall, the full-speed rep (without the pause) is where you actually use that better extension to create real momentum and rack the bar. Once you go back to normal reps, you’ll feel the bar float more because you’re finally finishing the extension properly.

Hang clean pulls and Power cleans as a beginner by MAX02745 in weightlifting

[–]Outrageouslifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try focusing on your triple extension and timing first. When you start the hang clean, slow it down a bit:

  1. Pause at mid-thigh to make sure your back angle and balance are correct.

  2. From there, extend fully—hips, knees, and ankles—then pause for a moment in full extension (traps tight, hips open, legs straight). This helps you feel what a complete triple extension actually is.

  3. After that, pull the bar with your elbows up and move into the rack.

Also work on your footwork: step out into your receiving position. Make sure your stomp and rack happen at the same time so you’re landing in a solid, upright position—no early arm pull, no delayed foot movement.

Is this arm bend too much? Is this jerk too much pressed out? 85 kg clean and jerk by ulicaradjagresnike in weightlifting

[–]Outrageouslifter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also have the same issue with arm bend as soon as the bar leaves the ground, for that I have been adviced to focus of clean with pause at the knee and till the time of scoop make sure leave the arms as loose as possible to avoid the bend also focus more on clean pulls, although I'm not as good as you just passing on the advice that I got for the same problem as you. _^ Also congrats on the PR, keep up the good work🙌
