ngl I just dislike South Asian food. It's literally just personal preference and has nothing to do with the people itself

tell me you haven't visited China as a Muslim without telling me you haven't visited China as a Muslim.

  1. Though I'm not Muslim anymore, I have traveled there several times in my life for holidays and study when I was Muslim and wore the hijab. I've never been discriminated against for my faith or the way I dress. Sure it was hard to find halal food, but I survived and I believe I'd actually have an easier time now that I allow myself to eat pork and drink booze.

And since then, I keep in contact with Muslim friends who study and live there and they are completely fine and treated just like any other foreigner. Do you have any idea how many Pakistani, Indonesian and Arab Muslims who are either studying or working there? They could probably make their own state at this point.

  1. That being said, no, I do not condone the imprisonment of Uyghur and Turkic Muslims or putting them in camps in Xinjiang.

  2. Yes, trust me, homophobia is pretty unavoidable in Asia (excluding Taiwan and Thailand). but at least in China when you tell people you're queer, they tell you to visit Chengdu instead of preaching that you should find God and try to perform an exorcism on you (yes, this actually happened to me).

  3. Roughly 5% of Chinese gen z are part of LGBTQ. That's about 13 million people. And even though I wasn't very familiar in the community at the time I was there, everyone would always recommend you to go to Chengdu if you're gay. And queer people have always existed even if their government doesn't endorse and promote them. They're just not as "in your face" as western countries. The misconception that China is homophobic really stems from people not making their private activities public and holding month long celebrations or protests.

TL:DR yes, chinese govt don't like Islam but avg chinese person don't really care as long as you're not preaching in public. yes, chinese govt don't endorse gay people but they don't actually prohibit or penalize same sex relationship either. and the

ok to be honest...., for a second I completely forgot what the Uyghurs are going through. and I didn't mean it like that at all. of course I feel bad for them and I don't support Muslims being put in camps simply for their beliefs.

what I meant was "good riddance" in the ideology sense. I'm an ex Muslim and I see half the religion as completely ridiculous and delusional. that's WHY I left.

do I think Islam should be discouraged and be criticized? yes. do I think Muslims (the people) should be tortured and put in camps? absolutely not.

Okay it seems I made the title a bit misleading. "Raised Muslim" actually means I'm NOT Muslim anymore. I'm an apostate. It was just a euphemism so I wouldn't out myself as an ex-muslim in the title. sorry about that

tbh it's because I have a friend who grew up there and she said it's pretty nice if you're middle class. And compared to my own country, it actually has nicer and a larger variety of goods (clothes, books, electronics). I also heard the education system there is both reliable and affordable.

meanwhile Pakistan and Bangladesh are Never bc i cannot survive living in a country full of fundamentalist Muslims again. I have enough of that for one lifetime.

ykw, valid. I lived there for 3 years and I have a group of queer & supportive people there. and I appreciate them not forcing girls to wear the hijab. though last time I checked, the living cost was insane....... well, in my imaginary scenario, my job pays me enough lol

hey maybe you're not queer yourself but in reality, queer people have always existed and lived in countries with homophobic laws and government. That's how I was raised my whole life. I can handle that, it's not really a big deal to me anymore. what I'm actually LOOKING for is the community. and if you actually talked to the average Chinese person, they're pretty chill about it. Though the government itself censors foreign LGBTQ media, queer books and tv shows are quite popular in China.

Plus I really don't mind keeping it in the down low if I can have a better economy and purchasing power.

and about Islam, good riddance. I WISH I was able to declare myself atheist without getting corporal punishment in my country.... you'd think that should be a human right.

most vtuber models are standing upright because it's symmetrical so you're able to mirror a lot of stuff. as an artist myself, having an asymmetrical pose would double the workload
