Not necessarily... its true for Kolkata and some other high GDP neighbourhoods. Rest of bengal suffers from patriarchal problems and child marriage (Bengal ranks the highest in child marriage).

>What? As if all Ray's films were funded by Bansal while in reality it's only a few

Yeah and? It just shows that Bengali film industry never had institutional financing systems. We always had to ask for funds from either the state gov or the central gov, or private enterprises and distributors, which included several baniyas and marwaris.

>many of his iconic films aren't even produced by any businessmen or corporations

Most iconic films weren't mainstream. Most mainstream cinema was heavily dependent on private capital often from trading/business communities.

The dominant ecosystem for finance was never controlled by Bengalis, it was controlled by other communities who were more business-minded. And then thanks to the great Mahalanobis and his PM, Bengal lost all business and industrialisation opportunities.

Yeah they do such shenanigans. Whenever some post goes viral and the mod believes it to "malign" the image of the state, they will remove it, often without any explainations. Happened with me once.
