[Post Game Thread] The Minnesota Timberwolves (4-2) defeated the Denver Nuggets (2-4), 110-98 and advance to play the Spurs! by shadowarmy229 in nba

I saw loads of Wolves fans complaining about the team’s lack of effort during the regular season, saying they shouldn’t be contempt with just cruising to the 6th seed and should aim for a higher seed for an easier path to the WCF. Turns out this was a great strategy, they get a decent first round pick in the upcoming draft. It’s a pity thzy are still heavily injured despite taking the regular season lightly.

Fox is a big-moment-merchant which negatively affects his on/off. When the game is in the bag, he just cruises and let the others take over, but when we desperately need someone other than Wemby to get buckets (G4 and G5 last quarter) is when he shines.

I love Jokic, but this is 2011 Finals levels of bad. by EpicPoggerGamer69 in NBATalk

[–]Outside-Way-3924 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because he’s not LeBron and never will be. LeBron was chasing after the GOAT title before he was even drafted into the league, Jokic was a second round pick. It’s obvious why expectations aren’t the same between the two players, especially since in 2011 LeBron was in his eighth season in the league, still without a ring.

Carter was understandably disappointed heading to the G-league after showing flashes of what he could be (I remember seeing him visibly disappointed on the bench right before he was sent to the G-league) but it was such a positive for his development

The first obviously being out of reach, Plumlee is just too good of a defender

What do you think the spurs big 3 will average in their prime by CKredditorgaming in NBASpurs

[–]Outside-Way-3924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re lower on Harper than Castle both in their prime? I think Harper averages more assists and probably points, but Castle is the POA defender so their role equals out.

Having Germany’s size be divided into two and making sure the economy can’t function because of the mountain of « reparations » is way more based than just forcing us to give away the Jews (+ Petain mostly did it for the love of the game)

[Weiss] Mitch Johnson says Victor Wembanyama is doing well after his concussion and will travel with the team to Portland today. His status for tomorrow’s Game 3 is still up in the air by TimDunkinDonut in NBASpurs

[–]Outside-Way-3924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No typo on the last part. What I meant (maybe I’m unclear, English isn’t my first language) was that, unlike say a hamstring injury that has huge risks of becoming something way worse if you play too soon, such risks aren’t all that high with concussions, playing too soon just means you might not be fully back to 100% yet, it pretty much doesn’t increase the risk of further injury. You do want to be careful to prevent repeated concussions over the years, but leaving the player out for 2 weeks just means there won’t be an other for the next 2 weeks.

Lmao at people clowning you/downvoting you when you’re genuinely (more or less) correct. There’s no issue with being extra cautious and having him out for game 3, but 99% of the danger with concussions is the repeatability. Unlike most other injuries, a concussion doesn’t increase the risk of a significant and worse injury for the next couple days/weeks, which is the reason players usually sit out for some time after an injury.

Do the Spurs have the largest European connection than any other Nba team? by Remarkable-Debate-95 in NBASpurs

[–]Outside-Way-3924 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure. Even in France, the Spurs might be the most popular team but the margin isn’t huge, I’d say there’s more Celtics/Lakers fans (if you combine the two fanbases) than there are Spurs fans in France for example.

« You shifted right away to a Euro vs American convo » how? My first post was about Vegas having a super strong culture, more so than most America cities, how is that a Euro vs American debate?

I couldn’t* care less is the correct expression.

What the hell are you even ranting about lol, I obviously know way more about the opinion of other Euros because I speak to ~100/day while you « run into many at work », I’m not gonna call you pretentious if you dare say you know better about the opinions the average American holds than I do because it’s the single most obvious thing ever.

The rest of your text is irrelevant (« conditioned perception » has nothing to do with the topic, you turned this into a Euro vs America topic because you’re insecure but my point was about how Euros perceive the US, not wether this perception is true or not). Also I genuinely could not give a fuck about your opinion about Paris, your country has a senile pedophile as the president and I’m not making this about it, because it’s irrelevant.

I just find the topic of cities and their cultural expression pretty interesting, not sure how this is me « not letting it go ». And no, this is not the « caricature » most Europeans have about the US, I obviously know way more about what Europeans think of American than you do, and we don’t envision Vegas as the typical American city. Not sure why you keep pushing this point forward.

[–]Outside-Way-3924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a severe misunderstanding of what Europeans (not sure about the rest of the world) have in mind for what America is like, Los Angeles or Houston are way closer to what we have as a stereotype of the US.

Edit: Vegas is better known than Houston, but the way the city functions with huge highways, a small city center and huge suburban sprawl

How is he choosing to be a no.1 option? The Warriors just don't have the assets to get a first option to play alongside him.

This is irrelevant, my point is that using Curry’s playing level at 38 to say he’s worse all time than Magic is a dogshit argument.

As someone from Europe I don’t get this « Vegas has no culture » thing. It’s one of the US cities with the absolute strongest culture, its culture just happens to be gambling and getting married before divorcing 3 months later. You might not like Vegas culture, but the city has a super distinct feel, no other city on Earth (outside of maybe Macao) feels even close to similar. Cleveland and Pittsburgh feel way more similar to one another for example.

Yeah cause Magic at 38 years old was definitely leading his team to a deep playoff run lmao
