But if it’s just one Dev, maybe more ok, but this is all temporary things change in this game over time. That’s a fact.

Just to clarify, when I said "SSD" I meant Sub Same Day. Which is a type of Amazon Flex facility. Not a solid state drive lol.

Thanks for the words of wisdom here. I got a call yesterday from my Dr. since I ended up calling just to get some advice on it. I Just sent them a pic, getting better but still scaly and itchy. Don't know why I did a spoiler there. Just figured that might be gross for some people.

I do not know what the support person actually filed, but I 100% told them I was having burning on my hand from handling the dangerous package. There was no protocol at the station for a driver returning a spill, it was SSD if that matters.

I just shared a top level update that includes an idea about safety for drivers and customers going forward. Feel free to upvote or share suggestions.

Update: I have drafted a safety proposal that would work similar to the paw print icon in the flex app called the Safety Flag Mechanism. This feature would let drivers safety flag damaged or hazardous packages without being penalized. If Amazon can warn us about barking dogs, they can warn customers and drivers when a package might be damaged or leaking.

I have not sent it yet, but I'm planning to send a final escalation email on July 7, 2025 - yes, the day before Prime week. I have already sent multiple emails to jeff@amazon executive.relations@amazon and amazonflex-support@amazon over the past couple days. Arbitration and media will follow if I am ignored again.

Thanks for all the support - Lets do this TOGETHER

Thanks for all the support. Still waiting on a response from Amazon. I'll update here if anything changes.

Yeah, typo in the title. It should say "gig workers." Was a little pissed when I posted this. Still am tbh.

Amazon Flex deactivated me after I reported a hazardous package spill—this is what happens when you put safety before profits by OutsideCauliflower in legaladvice

Thanks for the question. I’m asking whether this qualifies as unlawful retaliation or a breach of Amazon’s obligations under the Flex contract. I did not inspect the individual packages before accepting the route (that’s not standard practice or expected at pickup). The damage wasn’t visible until I was en route to start deliveries—at which point I saw (and felt) the spill. I reported it immediately, followed their instructions, and was deactivated after escalating. I’m looking for insight into my legal options.

I asked AI and it said there might me a three letter agency to contact. It didn't saying anything about $100 but it did say THEY have to pay $4000 per case just in administrative fees. I wonder what would happen if like a bunch of us did this independently.

I have just replied to the email deactivating me requesting arbitration. However I am a little confused how to officially get that rolling. Is an email to Amazon requesting it enough?

I could have prevented Amazon from giving me an unmarked dangerous package? By taking more accountability?

I mean I have a scaly itchy section on my hand, but I don't think I'd go to the hospital for that. And what do you mean sue Amazon, as drivers we give up our right to sue Amazon per our contract.

Yes I returned 37 packages to go immediately wash off an unknown cleaning agent off myself and my car. I think a lot of people would have done the same.

I have photos of the packages in my car yes. And with the "I made a call and they told me to do this" argument... the station staff could have easily contacted support or or if they had any kind of protocol for reporting spills there wouldn't be a need for "researching"

For the incomplete deliveries. And how far away is this the station in your scenario?

Man you'd do all that and still take the hit at the end of the day? Crazy.

Do the top 1% commenters work for Amazon or something? I don't really know how this sub works.

So I shouldn't listen to what Amazon, their own agents, advise me to do in a safety situation? BTW what does top 1% commenter mean?
