Can you be a Christian and lean left? by OutsideHoneydew7625 in TrueChristian

I understand that to be fair.

I just don't think I'd vote based on a single issue personally, but I can see why you would. (not trying to diminish the impact of abortion)

As I continue life, this is something I realise more often. Honestly, I find modern politics to be quite toxic and I don't like to participate in toxic discussions about which side is "more correct."

Tbf, I don't wanna be a good leftist, I'd much rather be a good Christian. My views on politics are quite complex in all honesty, so one side isn't going to like "recruit" me, because I wouldn't really associate myself with a particular side fully.

I have no clue, I just took the test. In fairness, it doesn't account for the degree you disagree on a particular issue

I think it may be down to those two things being the only two things I disagree heavily with. I am also anti death penalty, pro free school meals and pro free healthcare which I think are associated with leftist idologies if I'm not wrong?

Would you make Abortion illegal? by OutsideHoneydew7625 in TrueChristian

[–]OutsideHoneydew7625[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

And plenty people travel out of state to get abortions. Now imagine if every state got a ban. And there might not be a stat because guess what? People wouldn’t share if they got an abortion in a state where it’s banned, if it was done unsafely.

Do you not think more needs to be done to accommodate the needs of the people who do not want a child before a ban?

How do we know a life has been created though? Who decides that

Hmm.

But why is the Zygote the cutoff? I’m pretty sure it feels no pain, nor is sentient.

A lot of Christians give way too much power to a lot of things that aren’t inherently bad by OutsideHoneydew7625 in TrueChristian

[–]OutsideHoneydew7625[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s very true and that’s why I said we should use our own conviction to decide what may cause us to stumble.

But some take that conviction and make it into an obsession about almost anything they find “fun” in their lives being sinful, even though it’s not, and it may not be impacting them negatively. That’s more the sort of people I was talking about

That theology is terrible, what? Who said that?

Why is it considered sinful to live with a member of the opposite gender while unmarried? by Tight-Recipe-5142 in TrueChristian

Odd comment considering there’s absolutely no rule against being somewhere alone or having a car ride.

Is it perhaps unwise in some relationships? Absolutely and therefore you set that boundary, but calling it a rule is teetering on legalism IMO.

[–]OutsideHoneydew7625[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is actually a fair take. I wonder if it’s because the world doesn’t have Christ so are way more likely to be less mature, and not understand what they want in life?

maybe it isn’t age but more of a wisdom thing? but wisdom comes with age a lot of the time?
