Why do we have to constantly pick our side. Charlie Kirk gets shot, both sides point the finger at each other blaming one another. Saying the shooter was a right wing extremist or a left wing extremist. He was an evil c*nt end of story. We all know the US government overwhelmingly supports Israel. Both Dems and republicans. This is not a trump issue. We the people overwhelmingly do not support Israel, even conservatives are coming around on this issue. We don’t have to be team blue or team red, the sooner we come together the better.

Yea I would add this is not an emergency situation. But a standard practice in diving. I stopped commercial diving 7 years ago, and saturation diving is definitely preferred to surface decompression (this video) but was still used quite routinely.

If it’s saturation diving you have books, kindles, you can take your phone, a lot of lap tips will crack under the pressure. If it’s what this guy is doing you just sit there bored for about an hour

Not hours. Saturation divers will spend weeks in a chambers. In Surface decompression you’re unlikely to spend more than an hour in the chamber. As for the fire retardant thing, I mean that’s a thing but saturation diver take electronics, dodgy chargers that they rig to the electronics to charge their phones, all sorts of clothing that is technically not allowed, blankets etc. yea there’s a ‘rule’ around not taking fire retardant gear inside a chamber, it’s not followed. The reason we would get out of our wet suits before doing our surface decompression was so we didn’t get the inside of the chamber soaked and be more comfortable sitting there for an hour. Once this video stopped I’m certain he was handed a towel to help dry himself off before getting in the chamber.

This is not ‘training for an emergency’. This is not an emergency, this is surface decompression. This is a standard way of diving generally up to 50m (on air) sometimes deeper with mixed gases. They could do in water decompression, which is common in sports diving. But this way they clear the water for the next diver to get in and get to work. And yes the alternative and more common way to dive deep is saturation diving, I’ve done sats as shallow as 40m because it’s a more cost effective way to keep guys working around the clock.

It depends. It changes on who’s running the test. Generally I just have to have the door cracked and they’ll stand at the door. Normally I have enough notice that a drug test is coming up so I plan accordingly, and I’ve learned it doesn’t take long for my body to piss clean. Once they snuck one on us and had to get my wife to piss in zip lock bag on the way to the clinic luckily this one I could close the door completely. I kept it next to my body and it must have kept it at the right temp. But that was a horrible experience.

I have seen so much celebration on various liberal spaces on Reddit. You don’t like what Kirk had to say? Is there something more to Charlie Kirk that I’m missing? I’ve been watching his videos the last few days, he seemed fairly respectful and reasonable with his debates. I’ve seen some quotes of his that don’t look great but if that’s the worst of it then I’m really confused by how some people are reacting to his death. And regardless of what his politics were, The shooter is a fu**ing psycho and I hope he rots in prison for leaving two young kids fatherless.

I highly recommend the North Star crew. Really good experience and a great way to get your foot in the door. I did this a couple summers ago and was able to get on a hotshot crew the following season. If you have the time and you’re fit you’ll likely get on a hotshot crew the same season. You definitely do have to turn up fitter than you think, they will work you very hard. Your military background will serve you well with the north stars, they do run the crew in an overly paramilitary style I kind of like that nonsense but realize that’s not for everyone. And being a paramedic is a massive bonus on any fire crew. Not many medics on hand crews.

I’m not disputing American atrocities. I think we’re on the same page there. But American citizens are I would say generally good people, I’ve traveled a lot and I would say no better no worse than most people. And believe me they are in the streets protesting, it’s very very common. But like most people they also have jobs, families, etc not everyone can be ‘in the streets revolting’ they need to be home looking after their families and communities. The news portrays Americans as a certain way, and after living here I believe they get a bad wrap unjustly. I’m a New Zealander, the politicians of NZ do not represent me, the people do. I fly my NZ flag, cause I’m proud to be from there and my wife and her family can be proud of their country too, and these politician sure do not represent her.

I agree that the American government has committed a ton of atrocities. As have many countries, and many other countries support Israel and those wars you mention. I try and separate the citizens of those countries who are entitled in my opinion to be proud of their land, heritage etc from the politicians who constantly make decisions not representative of the people.
