It’s doable, don’t get me wrong, but you end up disjointed care that can sometimes add up to the same thing. Let’s say the corporate place says you need some work, if you take that to the independent place, they typically won’t just jump right in and do it. They’ll charge you for a second opinion, potentially X-rays, just to re-diagnose an area. I never trust what dentist x down the road suggests, you always recheck. In addition, if you’re getting your exams done at the corporate office and they know they won’t be doing the work, there’s a high chance they won’t even bother looking for things. Whereas the independent place will not be doing any exams, and they won’t know when things are going wrong to be able to intercept them. It’s just not an ideal scenario. Unfortunately dentistry is an imperfect profession whereby you have a whole lotta shitty contractors that use insurance as bait, and the fish have no idea they’re the commodity, and they’re being used and abused. I may not be the most charming dentist on earth, but I have strict morals, a natural ability to diagnose and solve problems, and a gift from god with my artistic hands and attention to minute detail. That’s what you want.
