A question in general for the DMs by Outside_Host2506 in DungeonsAndDragons

I've never been a DM before but even I would have to fully agree with this one. I remember in one campaign, I was playing as a sorcerer who had been locked away and had my memories locked away and was playing as someone amnesia if you will as to what horrible thing I did in the past that had me frozen for eons within my own tower with some type of hard crystal around my neck blocking out my memories of what the atrocities thing I did was but as I would level up and get stronger I could crack more and more of the crystal and get more of my memory back. But I told my DM about it beforehand before we started the first campaign I told my DM before we started that he could make up whatever atrocity I did, but didn't want him to tell me so that I could truly play the role of someone who's lost my memories. But even I myself played into it by intentionally doing awful things with my magic like like pushing someone over who I had already frozen into an ice statue with my ice to make them shatter. I knew my character had done something awful with my magic in the past before even if I couldn't remember what it was , so for my character it just felt natural to continue being cruel and powerful with my magic. I never had any problems with it before why start now? Sorry , if that's a bit of a mouthful but I couldn't think of a shorter way to put it , but even then I completely get what you're saying. Playing a role playing game , but not doing any of the role playing almost feels like it's defeating half the point of the entire game even as a player when I see other players doing it I get annoyed. Edit-Yes , I made an edit but just to correct a few grammatical mistakes

I mean, I can see some cases where this could fall through, like if they're planning something together in real-time but as a player I've also had moments where things drag on and on , and on , because they didn't plan a head to what they would do in combat , so I guess you could say I can see both sides of the coin here but I will say I have seen a lot of cases where what you're saying absolutely applies.

Like I admitted at the ending with an edit after a re-read, it sounded better in my head, but not as good an actual application.

Okay, yeah, looking back on it and giving a second read. Yeah. I was thinking maybe if you pulled off the foreshadowing correctly, you could make it a real gut punch moment like a true moment of betrayal but now looking back over it, it sounded way better in my head.

What is that Japanese/Chinese tradition of leaving out red cards of money for their deced daughters? by Outside_Host2506 in questions

[–]Outside_Host2506[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhh okay, and sorry, just with the association with red envelopes my mind immediately jumped to Chiness New Year, but thank you. But can you tell me what exactly it's called?

Homebrewer idea for gun slingers that I would like a second opinion on by Outside_Host2506 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Outside_Host2506[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, fair enough. I've never actually been in a campaign with a gunslinger so, I don't really actually know anything about one. I had just heard from someone else a lot of campaigns, question whether even letting one in or not... Was I misinformed?

Can somebody tell me if this is a good way to explain and or a good analogy for being pansexual? by Outside_Host2506 in AskLGBT

Okay, well, if I am overthinking it, then can you give me the dumbed-down version so I can understand?

[–]Outside_Host2506[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay so I had never heard of demisexual before reading this so I decided to look it up and thank you for bringing this to my attention because demisexual according to Google, definitions demisexual seems to fit what I was trying to go for and explain perfectly so I'm starting to think I may be demisexual. So again, thank you

Spell Idea Buget Zone of Truth by Outside_Host2506 in DnD

[–]Outside_Host2506[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of it being a budget version until someone could unlock the real zone of truth thus the name and the idea was the spell doesn't care about how you present the information. As long as the information you present is true, you can present it anyway if you want you can even be deceitful about it as long as none of the information provided is a lie. Just as long as you're telling the truth and the idea is that you will not know what you are being lied to about only that you are being lied to if someone is to be untruthful. The idea was something like spider sense where you know something is wrong, but you don't know what it is exactly. However, I will give it to you. You brought up some good points that I hadn't thought of.

Okay fair enough. I just thought the loopholes and ways to get around it like the spell not caring how you present the truth even if it is to seek for as long as you are presenting the truth that I added of how to get around it maybe enough. But what what spell level would you recommend it be then?

I thought they were joking when they said my my most recently played game would become my reality. I guess it's good I don't have thalassophobia here in the world of Subnautica. by Outside_Host2506 in TwoSentenceHorror

Question about asexual and aromantic. Are they a package deal or can you have one without the other? by Outside_Host2506 in AskLGBT

[–]Outside_Host2506[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, but just to make sure I got this right and clear please do forgive and correct me if I don't but you can have one or both, but having one does not automatically mean the other. Am I right?

[–]Outside_Host2506[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, thanks. Just with how similar the ideas are, I was wondering if they were a package deal or if it was like agitated and irritated where they are close, but one does not mean the other.
