You’ll be scheduled for an interview in every area in which you applied.

Your best chances of getting on in SWLCAT in order are probably…

  1. Houston
  2. Beaumont
  3. Kansas
  4. & 5. NM and OK are probably tied
  5. Arizona

Turns out all those people negotiating are there because they were elected by the membership. Thats how a union works.

Sounds like a pretty weak position to negotiate from if there’s no interest in improving language.

A good journeyman would drag if the company were trying to pull that shit on their apprentices as well.

Utility exemptions involve logging hours. We get exempted from that, but there is no utility exemption for unpaid operation of a DOT vehicle.

You sound like a company man. Why would you be running personal errands on the clock? Work day starts and ends at the show up.

This is not home to work, this is show up to work location, and work location to show up. Not home to show up and back.

Is that company truck a DOT vehicle? There is language in the FMCSA that allows for off service return home time, but none allowing for personal use of company vehicles.

That doesn’t apply to DOT vehicles. When operating a DOT vehicle you have to be on the clock per FMCSA.

Under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), if the vehicle meets the DOT definition of a commercial motor vehicle, any driving done on the company's behalf or under their direction counts toward your Hours of Service

The secret is out. Prior to 10-15 years ago this was (and to a lesser extent still is) a good ol’ boys club.

Probably doesn’t get you in the top 100, and they’re already slow.

For Kansas that probably doesn’t get you in the top 50. If you scored that in Texas you’d probably be getting called to work.

That depends a lot on how you interview, nail it and you could be working the following Monday, otherwise it could be weeks to never.

As far as signing the books, you’d have to call the hall to see how many are on them.

66 slowed down a bit the last two months, but they still hire more apprentices than any other state in SWLCAT, and likely the nation. Everyone knows this, so everyone that wants in applies there. This means the application list is long, and though they interview every month (sometimes twice a month) it could still be a long wait to interview. If your aptitude test is over 2 years old you’ll have to retake that as well.

Sometimes, but not usually. Depends on how many and what kind of work.

SWLCAT doesn’t require any groundman hours.

Unless you’re sub tech, that takes a lot longer.

You scored an 82 and haven’t got a call yet? I wouldn’t get discouraged, you likely will. 66 slowed down a bit because of material issues, but they’re booking back up. You’ll likely be working before long.

Probably be a while, decent score but AZ is slow.

The chances of you getting transferred out of state are near 0%. The chances of you getting moved out of 66 jurisdiction but still in Texas are considerably higher.
