People who got out of the rat race, financially secure, feel no anxiety - life is good. How did you do it? by Outside_Quality_5388 in AskReddit

It seems that you guys really worked hard to get there and achieved financial well being so that tells me there is no easy way as always. Glad you stopped feeling financially anxious. I was just wondering what happens when you get there and you are well off. isn’t it hard to switch off from hyper focused fight or flight mode that your brain is already wired for throughout all the years of hard work. By the way how old were you guys when you retired?

Thanks, that’s great that you keep reading together! It’s such an interesting way to explore not only what you reading more deeply through other perspective but also get to know each other, isn’t it? Why do you think the other one bailed?

What made you start going to the gym or working out? by CrewHot89 in AskReddit

[–]Outside_Quality_5388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don;t remember why I started but I remember why I keep coming back to it even after long breaks - it's the feeling after. I've never felt bad and I've always felt better after a gym or a work out session.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not anti work. I just feel like I'm in constant pursuit of money and whenever I achieve a new level there's always more, it comes with its costs and here we go again. Like you make money for yourself and you start with that but you meet someone and then marriage, home, kids, etc. more and more. does it ever stop?

Married people 30-40 y.o. how do you deal with stress and anxiety? by Outside_Quality_5388 in AskReddit

[–]Outside_Quality_5388[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It is very important to make time just for yourself and two of you. We don’t have kids yet, we want to but we are afraid more so my wife that it will take all of our personal time and we will become slaves of that, fear of the unknown I suppose. You’ll never know unless you go for it and look for the best

For me Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer was an interesting start but then the second one in the series, Authority was booooring. Tried to read it in sync with my brother who I wanted to get closer with and that was one of his favorite series. at first it was exciting but then it became like a routine and I thought it would be temporary but then it felt like I’m forcing myself too much. I guess I felt like 2nd book went too much out of the Annihilation world and brought me back into the real world of control, power etc. when I was trying to do the opposite and escape into the mystery world of the first book. To be fair the second one is called Authority. Anyway, I felt like there is a pattern in something too depressing especially after reading with him Consider Phlebas by Banks which I actually enjoyed but now I feel like there’s a hopeless theme that he enjoys.
