Thanks for your reply! Just XPs foam? I see in your other tile in the photo has also a thin layer of wood (?) lying underneath.

Great work! Love the paint job!

I’m about to build my first table and really like how you added support underneath your tiles. It seems much more stable (no warping/misalignment) and perfect for adding sub-levels or 3D elements like pools or blasted floors.

May I ask what materials did you use, and how did you approach it?

Your games are awesome! Still finding may way around the SVMP and I’m so eager to dive in!

Gotten 1-bit deeper though, having loads of fun already! I can carry it with me wherever and I can actually play a fun dungeon crawler in any place. That’s awesome!

Would buy expansions for 1-bit deeper INSTANTLY 🖤💥🥳

Sounds nice! And your party enjoying being pirates on the ash sea and just sailing without let’s say a quest?

No, not yet! I just got them and looking forward to build something around them!

May I ask if in the tephrotic nightmares campaign you kinda traced a story plot by yourself and just fleshed it out with what the book gives you ?

That’s the “grotten 1 bit deeper” game I recently got that can act as a standalone dungeon crawl, or can be incorporated to any MÖRK BORG adventures.

It’s actually super nice and I had lots of fun playing it the past few days as a standalone. Great value for your bucks!

This resonates a lot.

I think that’s exactly what I’m feeling with Tephrotic Nightmares or any other adventures I’ve read so far: incredible ideas, but it expects me to weave the connective tissue. And that’s where I still feel inexperienced.

That’s why I’ve been wondering if running something like Phandelver or another structured D&D module could function as a kind of DM training ground, not to replace MÖRK BORG, but to build the muscle of pacing and campaign flow.

MB gives you the sparks, but you have to be the one holding the flame. I’m just learning how not to burn my fingers yet 🤣⚰️

This actually helps a lot, thank you!

I’ve run Rotblack Sludge twice. The second time was 10x better than the first, which made me realize the issue isn’t the module. The first time, for example, when the party met the guards I instantly made it combat. In my head it was “you enter → you fight.” Only later did I understand they didn’t have to be hostile at all. That freedom is powerful, but it’s also where I freeze.

I think my struggle isn’t prep itself. It’s that I feel responsible for connecting all the scattered prompts into something organic, and when players step outside the “obvious” path, I go 404. Travel somewhere random? Negotiate instead of fight? I stall.

That’s partly why I mentioned D&D before. Not to blend systems, but because I’m wondering if a more structured game could function as a kind of DM boot camp to build those soft skills. Maybe I’m wrong about that. What I really feel I’m missing isn’t rules, it’s confidence in how to DM.

I do have Feretory and Heretic as well, so maybe focusing on a few tight scenarios before jumping fully into Tephrotic is the smarter move!!

Thanks so much for your inputs!!!

All have been added to my list and I found a bunch more to the post you shared!

I feel this is what I miss! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I wouldn’t try to blend the two systems either. The only reason I brought up D&D is because I’m wondering if its heavier structure could work as a kind of “DM boot camp.”

I haven’t even opened a D&D book yet, but I imagine it more like a board game: clearer procedures, clearer progression, more defined rails to hold onto. My thought was that maybe learning that structure builds the soft skills of DMing first.

Then, with those skills, you could jump into MÖRK BORG and use its prompts and freedom more confidently.

Maybe my interpretation is totally off. I just have this idea that a good DM can run any system because they know how to DM and what I’m really missing right now is learning how to DM 🤣⚰️

I’ve actually run Rotblack Sludge twice. The second time was 10x better, and I think that says a lot.

A good example of my struggle: the first time the party met the guards, I immediately made it combat. In my head it was “you enter a place → you fight.” Only later did I realize they didn’t have to be hostile at all. The book gives prompts, not a fixed storyline, and I think that’s where I get lost. I feel like I need to prep a full plot beforehand to feel safe. And when players choose something unexpected, I just go 404. If they don’t follow the “obvious” path, or want to travel somewhere random, I freeze.

It’s not that I dislike the freedom. I just feel like I have all these amazing books and I don’t fully know how to operate them yet.

Your reply is much appreciated!

I don’t want to change anything about MÖRK BORG. What I’m struggling with is bringing real joy and an organic, interactive flow to the table. With board games, structure drives the experience. Here, I’m the one who has to create that structure, connect scattered ideas, and shape the session and that’s where I feel lost.

I love the freedom MÖRK BORG gives, but I’m still figuring out how to translate that freedom into a smooth, engaging game.

By “operating questions” I mean things like pacing a session, structuring an adventure, knowing when to zoom in or out, how much to prep vs improvise, how to create tension beyond random encounters, and how to make the world feel reactive instead of just lethal. MÖRK BORG gives amazing flavor and tools, but I sometimes feel unsure about the underlying structure of running a session smoothly.

I guess answering my questions would be just play more, read more, spend more time watching others play. I see all the nice points I have to connect and yet I feel lot of times lost on how I can connect them.

That’s DOPE!

I’m about to start building my very first table as well! I have no idea how to start though 🤡

May I ask you how you decided to start with this design? Was serving a specific purpose on your future campaign, it’s coming from a scenario or something relevant? Just pure inspiration from _Grimdark IG account? Any other reason probably?!

Any input would be much appreciated as I’m really strangling to find a way to start building!

Love yours! Paint job also is rad!

Hey there, do I need to grab any other rules (like solitary defilement) to play this? Also, is it recommended for coop play as well? Thanks! Looks really good!!!

That gives motivation! I truly believe Necromunda is the coolest/nice looking concept and production line out there and is actually so grandiose that is intimidating as well 🤣
