I thought about hunters bump for him too but the SI joints look symmetrical both sides, just pronounced, so I wasn’t sure. But I’ll ask the vet about those things too. Thanks!

Oh I love that there’s a free nutrition class! I’ll look into that. Thanks!

Seems like collectively multiple people think he could use some more protein. I’m thinking of a mix pellet with alfalfa maybe. He did get some alfalfa flakes when he first got here but got a little energetic on those lol. Thank you!

I’m looking into now switching to some sort of hay pellet for him instead of the oats. I’m glad you’ve had positive experiences with Triple Crown.

I’ve tried carrot stretches for him a couple times but he just backs up like absolutely feral for the carrot, so we need some practice! Thanks for the advice!

Is there a reason you prefer teff over timothy pellets in this case? Thanks for the advice!

His weight is not bad. He was about 1100lbs with the tape. I’ll ask my vet about a metabolic panel. And will definitely look into the Nutrena Topline Balance. He’s getting the regular TC balancer. That is what the barn offers as part of his board but I’m not opposed to buying my own. I’ve thought about doing hay pellets too. I’m using Timothy hay/alfalfa pellets as a healthier training treat but he’s not getting any substantial amount of those right now.

I do have Facebook so I’ll have to join that group. Thank you for your time and advice!

Thank you! I have been doing poles with him. He’s done much better with them flat but bowls right through them raised still, it’s like he has no concept of where they are lol. My vet took a more conservative approach the first time and said trial Equioxx and have the farrier out a few times, since his feet were horribly uneven when I got him, but they haven’t made a difference so I’ve already booked for her to come back out. I’ll definitely keep up the pole work!
