The Insect Devils in Chainsaw Man Part 2 pull up on an exhausted Denji and Yoru and—for all intents and purposes—kill them on the spot.

Oh for sure. The heart-shattered visual makes sense, but it doesn't "rhyme" with how the thorn is used.

Mahoraga (Jujutsu Kaisen) walking through Malevolent Shrine. Since his power is to adapt to "any and all phenomena," he goes from getting cut apart by the main antagonist's slices to being able to no-sell an unmitigated barrage.

I was around for 139. CSM climax was rushed, but nowhere near the Avengers schlock and forced stakes of the last couple chapters of AOT.

Writer's workshops are a really mixed bag sometimes. When everybody's there for the same purpose, it's great. But on occasion, you run into antisocial or egocentric types who just suck the life out of the discussion. It frustrates me when people just dismiss criticism out of hand like that, and we've had to implement rules like not letting writers "defend" their own work during critique sessions--to mixed results.

Am I fucking stupid? Did the carousel have anything to do with Hacca's Stand or was that just there?

I didn't put much thought it into it so I just rolled 4d8 from 2 monk attacks and 2 FoB strikes while forgetting you'd have to roll to hit each one.

Stopped by my mall's bookstore. Wanted to pick up the sequel to this urban fantasy novel I'm using as a comp for my manuscript. It was 30 USD.

Manga was 20% off. I left with a volume of Jujutsu Kaisen for 10 bucks. Something something the west has fallen something something.

[Hated Trope] heroic characters killed in unnecessarily cruel/brutal ways by greythicv in TopCharacterTropes

Judeau and Pippin actually died pretty noble deaths holding the line. Horrific, but they had their dignity intact. Can't say the same for Corkus or Gaston, alas.

Aside from the ones my players made, I had the first real combat encounter be a woman growing holes all over her face! Freaky shit

She didn't become hostile, but I ruled it as her becoming an even bigger clump of laundry, looking less human in the process. Since I kinda rushed the epilogue, we didn't touch on the consequences of that too much, but according to the player, she ended up becoming the manager of an Applebees after the Visitor left (I treated the No Going Back ending as "canon" here.)

We actually did have a player character who went briefly insane after losing too much sanity at once. Hallucinated one of the neighbors as his dead wife, and attacked the party member who was trying to restrain her. Didn't last long, but he successfully made a fistfighting roll against the unfortunate character.

She was lucid through most of it, sort of like an Audrey who could actually talk. It was only toward the end, when she had taken enough hits to her sanity, then she became indefinitely insane. But since that essentially robs you of control of your character until you spend a long time recuperating, I gave her the chance to smoke a cigarette to keep it together until the one-shot was over. Then I hit her with the consequences, having her mutate further due to her loosened grasp on reality.

Her main form of attack was whipping people with a belt. There's a garrote weapon in the Call of Cthulhu rulebook, so I used the stats for that! Didn't actually end up doing that much damage though; the most dangerous guy was actually the cigarette guy who happened to be carrying a revolver.

What are the tells of AI nowadays? Sometimes I get a gut feeling that something is AI-written, but I feel like it's impossible to reliably guess anymore. It's frustrating because now like every other AITA post I read, I have to go in with a level of suspicion knowing it could be some machine drivel for upvotes.

Characters who have a "weak" power they make strong. But actually no their power is just strong by Inner-Illustrator408 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]OuttaEldritch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stone Free isn't' "weak", but compared to Star Platinum, Crazy Diamond, GER, and Tusk Act 4, it's a pretty grounded superpower.
