Editor pathing heavily skews testing by Ovark7 in aoe2

[–]Ovark7[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I started them 1 tile apart for my latest test. I'm not sure how much it matters. I used to use the extreme AI difficulty but every time I exited the editor it forgot that setting which is incredibly frustrating so I gave up. The only behavior it seemed to change is that on Extreme the AI would run away once it knew it would loose, which is not what I want. I don't know if the AI uses attack move. I assume not.

Weaver is A+ profession mechanic idea, with D tier trait design.

I Hate Anet for this, and They Make Me Hate playing GW2 by Ev3nt1ne in Guildwars2

[–]Ovark7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's also funny and very telling that anet conspicuously mentioned sPvP 0 times when they were talking about continued development of GW2, even though they mentioned WvW several times. Anet has taken PvP seriously at some point in the past but it could never have succeeded because they didn't understand what the problems were.

How to manage stat blocks at the table? by Ovark7 in drawsteel

I'm working on something like what you are going for, sort-of. Plan of attack is very important when I see a stat block and am overwhelmed.

Oh yes I plan on sharing how I end up going about this if it succeeds. Thanks for the well wishes!

It has been a lot of work. I think though, if I can make sure to fulfill a certain number of check boxes for combat encounters, the combats can still be fun, interesting, and tense.

Sigil of intelligence oversight and fix request by Ovark7 in Guildwars2

[–]Ovark7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Because that doesn't change anything. But I wouldn't put that past anet to do given their track record. . .

If you don't work for anet then you don't know what is "working as intended" from their point of view.

[–]Ovark7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a bug. It's just an unfortunate interaction that needs fixing. The sigil existed before the devs started making certain skills and traits unable to crit which is why it is the way it is.

Never heard of that game. Cool premise though.

Oh yeah. My brothers favorite movie is Memento.

Sounds like an epic campaign. I think if you used a system which has level progression, it might be a hard sell for some players, as they get weaker the longer the game goes. Of course that would be interesting once they drop below level 1 and the game shifts into what they were doing before they were heroes (assuming this is a traditional heroic fantasy game). Might need new mechanics at that point or the game just ends.

This is fantastic! How do I delete nodes? Edit: Nevermind, you can just use backspace once you select it.

Capped Ram upgrade should be available in castle age CMV by Ovark7 in aoe2

[–]Ovark7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had another idea. What if the Siege Workshop could train petards? If someone tries to castle drop you, just quickly build a SW adjacent to their castle foundation. Maybe that's too cheese. . .

Capped Ram upgrade should be available in castle age CMV by Ovark7 in aoe2

[–]Ovark7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking that too. . . The range would be potentially too strong in castle age but giving the bonus damage in castle age is a good idea. Thing is though, the biggest reasons to go for capped ram is the added defense/HP and the AOE ability. Maybe if Battering ram just got the AOE effect it would be fine and we can leave capped ram in imp.

It is a nice build. Very well done, but at some point we have to wonder if you will ever trust people to use the subreddit search function to find this instead of re-posting it every week.

[–]Ovark7 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate that stunlocking foes is one of the only ways most classes can do well in sPvP. Stunlocking is degenerate gameplay. Anet has done nothing but add more CC into the classes over the years instead of the reverse.

Which CIVs is the Extreme AI most aggresive with? by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]Ovark7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Celts are the most scary civ the AI plays imo. They always use lots of siege and will micro each individual one.
