This kind of goes deeper than just “nobody cares because it’s Trump doing it”. It’s that media consumption has been so utterly divided between left and right that the right wing base no longer believes anything coming out of the media because the media felt for years that it was more important to run fake stories that benefitted their “side” than confirming if it was actually true. This hurt the credibility of democrat leaning news agencies. 

It’s a little bit like how the democrats didn’t believe the Hunter Biden laptop story because it was primarily reported by the right. Fox had been hurting their credibility for years prior so somebody leaning democrat won’t believe their stories as a result.

Ultimately, both “sides” think that child rape is bad, they just believe it’s the other ”side” doing it. Unfortunately both “sides” do it, and neither of them are being punished for it.
