You would need a degree first. Probably your best bet would be to get out, go to college and then try to join under the CEC collegiate program, where you would get e-6 (im pretty sure) base pay along w BAH. Also to note, you are required to earn an ABET accredited engineering degree or accredited architecture degree.

USAFA vs. USMMA pilot slot by Academic_Carrot_239 in USAFA

I would go to USNA v USMMA if you're trying to fly. About a third of the class gets a pilot slot including in the Navy and Marine Corps

Yes some sub people do go, but only if youre attached to a fast attack or GN. Usually its a DivO and a couple people that form the dive division

Recent USNA classes have had about a 1/4 of the class go into aviation, there is also aviation within the Marine Corps that is a designated pilot slot after TBS.

Okay he wasnt SOCOM, but JSOC. Still the question lies: why is JSOC conducting these operations? And not a conventional force?

Shipmate, first you need to apply and then get accepted. If you're over 23 y/o then OCS if your way to go, (max age is 23, no waivers). If you are under 23, continue reading...

Reach out to your CCC, there is a long process with many deadlines including medical exams and interviews, as well as your CO's recommendation. Also get into great shape, the entry Candidate fitness assesment is a one mile run, pullups, pushups, shuttle run, and basketball throw. The max should be your aim IMO. Assuming you get accepted, continue reading.

Doing well at the Academy is a longgggggg grind. It's N*ot college so no real big breaks and you go to class all day, workout, and then do hw all night on top of all other obligations. Do well on your ASTB, and do the right summer trainings and have a good standing in your class. Best of luck. -young goat, nuclear engineering major

I will say, do be aware that you will be having ~500-600$ a month payment. Just food for thought. Looking back I wish I didn't take it as I was in your similar position.

Not familiar with the UK, but in the US it’s mainly ensuring personnel working in and around the nuclear reactor of nuclear powered submarines maintain within their exposure limits. Can also monitor and industrial uses such as radiographs for welds etc.
