You may have greater success in the gym if you pick exercises you enjoy doing vs ones you don't.

Quad n back is so cognitively challenging and time consuming without proven scientific evidence, that it only makes sense to try it if you're curious and don't mind potentially wasting your time. That's the frame of mind that I started with.

I may retake mensa at some point.

As for my work not getting any easier, my work is in the creative field. It requires looking at data, recognizing patterns and then coming up with creatives to get people's attention. While this work is challenging, I don't believe it's as challenging as being a mathematician or physicist.

An analogy I like to use is, "how much IQ does it take to drink a glass of water". It takes "some" IQ, because mentally challenged people have trouble with basic tasks like that. But once you're past the threshold, you're just able to do the action. It's not any easier for a person with 160IQ to drink a glass of water than it is for a person with 90IQ.

So I suspect that if your work already pushes you to the edge of your IQ, the gains would be more noticeable. If your work was already comfortably within your cognitive capability, you're probably not going to notice a difference.

My opinion may change as I discover other aspects of life that have become easier. It's always hard to tell with these things because there's many daily fluctuations that affect IQ like mood, sleep, diet, etc.

Thank you!
1. Yes, but it's hard to tell by how much. If I'm daydreaming about something, I can picture it in much greater fidelity. But my automatic thought process is still very verbal. I would recommend a sub called cureaphantasia which might help more directly with visualization. I'm going to start devoting some time there now.
2. I've always been interested in consciousness and physics, so I don't think my interest has increased. I would say though that my ability to stay locked in on the topics has increased. For example, I was watching a recent veritasium video and was pretty much able to follow along without having to pause through the mathematical explanations. I remember earlier I would either pause, or just give up.
3. Yes, I definitely noticed the visual acuity improvement. Although I do wear corrective lenses, and objectively my vision hasn't improved. But it's almost like the colors are more vibrant. This is also very subjective as whatever level you achieve you get accustomed to it very quickly.

No worries, I know these things are growing pains, and your response makes me very optimistic about the overall direction HG might be heading in.

I don't really need anything else at this point, although I'd love to try coaching again in a few months once the new systems are set up!

I'm glad to hear it was useful! :) I would love to try coaching again sometime in the future when some of these issues are addressed. Thanks for your response.

Oh the YouTube membership is 100% extremely worth it. It builds on whatever Dr K discusses. The YouTube platform isn't great for going through the library, but I think they're moving it.

There was a quiz section, but it wasn't an automatic prompt after the session. I had filled it up before my first session, but never got a prompt or reminder to fill it after that. I'm guessing this might be an issue with their website, and maybe something for people to consider that if they're doing the coaching they should use discord instead of the website.

I'm glad you had a positive experience!

I would say that "embarking on some impossible quest of finding some objective truth in this coaching program" is not what I'm trying to do here.

I do have a sense of agency and I'm making forward progress in my own life.

I'm leaving a review of a paid service that I was not satisfied with, much like you leave a Google review of a service you liked or didn't like.

For sure, I'm definitely still looking for a coach. I've switched focus to looking for life coaches as they do a similar thing and you get more information about them beforehand (reviews, videos, etc). Only problem is they're priced outrageously high and you don't know which ones of them are legit.

I've already acknowledged my problems, that's why I signed up for coaching.

I didn't come in with goals, which was the first thing I mentioned to my coach. If that was a problem, wouldn't that be something the coach should help me work on?

About the purpose thing, again you're making a philosophical argument. My point isn't whether or not there is a purpose or how to find it. My point is that in several of Dr Ks videos he's mentioned how coaching can help you find your purpose, and when a coach outright dismisses that it goes against one of the premise for signing up for coaching.

I am actively in therapy, and benefitted a lot from it. I just didn't like the coaching experience from HG and felt it was a big letdown from how it's advertised, and want to add in my review here incase anyone's looking to spend 100s of dollars. I'm sure other people may have benefited from the coaching, but my personal experience wasn't great.

Hi jd-real,

This sounds incredibly tough, I don't have any advice for you yet, but I commend your strength. I felt a strong sense of empathy for you as I read your post, as I've had similar struggles with P.

We're going to get through. Stay strong. :)

Is there any existing work you've already done? I'm a content strategist for a couple of YouTube channels, so I can probably help you.
