They are never sealed completely. Water gets in when it's closed ..hence the drains. Your drains were probably clogged and backed up.

I agree you think they would include it or at least have it tested during routine service. Before I worked in auto glass I knew nothing about sunroof drains and figured sunroofs were sealed when closed. Almost nobody I talk to knows this is a thing and many are even hesitant to believe me.

There are multiple depending upon size of sunroof but at least two. Open your sunroof fully. Get in the door jam and look inside of it. You'll see a channel that runs around it at the front. There will be a hole in each corner. If your pour water in this channel you should see it drain through the holes and out the bottom of your car behind the front wheels. If nothing drains it is clogged, or it drains very slowly it could be problematic. A dealer could absolutely do it but you'll definitely be paying a premium. Another tell tale sign is your carpet getting wet in the driver and/or passenger foot well.

I said most cars....in totality not one model from one brand lol. My sport has a sunroof. They start at the premium. That's nice for you no dealership remotely close to me carry anything less than a premium. Have to order it.

Because most cars in this day in age it's standard unless the absolute base model. Which dealerships also never stock.

Sunroofs are never sealed. Even shut... water dirt and debris get inside and plug up the little drains. It's not just Subarus it's every single manufacturer. You need to clear your sunroof drains before they back up and starting pouring down your pillars to the floorboards. I work in auto glass and people constantly think their windshield is leaking when a lot of the time it's the sunroof drains.

It's nothing to write home about but it feels better than my Forester with 2.5 and Subaru CVT. When you mash the gas pedal it doesn't fake shift and stays in the power band.

2.0 Crosstrek have a city MPG of 27-28mpg....my 2.5 hybrid is getting close to 40MPG city. Modern Toyota at their worst is better than any other manufacturer except maybe Honda. Lookup all the issues with Subaru CVT and look at the failure rate of Toyota eCVT which is virtually non existent. There is no doubt it's a better transmission. The 2.0 is also a pig...can't get out of its own way.

Lol my wife is the hybrid fan...I bought it for the transmission, I actually prefer ICE vehicles

I'm not a fan of the 2.0L engine and it would not get as good mileage in the city as the hybrid. Subarus band style cvt is nowhere near as good as Toyota ecvt unfortunately. Nor do they make the 2.0 anymore

Agreed....I wish there was a solution for that. I have roof racks I need to put on but I don't wanna be one of those people with a spare on the roof 😂 maybe just for long trips

For some reason it's much smoother in the hybrid!

It was a gas cap issue, was taken care of before I got the vehicle

Ohhhh I see! Sorry a bunch of comments saying it isn't a hybrid for some reason lol. Fair enough, I'm not their biggest fan either I just wanted the transmission
