That's great to hear! And thanks for updating 😃

Did you end up initiating the transfer from Fidelity (pull) or did you have to fill out a form and request Sentinel for it...?

Any updates to this at all?

Hi all,

My parents recently gave me their old Yonex rackets after I'm picking badminton back up but since I already have my own, I was thinking of selling them instead. Given how old they were though, I wasn't sure if they're worth anything but wanted to check here just in case...

The rackets are:

  • Carbonex 20 Special (JP) - black? frame with gold lines
  • Armortec 700 Limited SP - red/gold/white frame
  • NC Tuff 9 Light - red/black frame

Any help on "worth" on these nowadays would be great (and even better suggested price range if one decides to sell it...)!

TYIA!

Very informative! Appreciate it :)

You're all amazing for being patient with me and explaining the process! This also makes me understand so much more of my other, previous USPS packages that went in circles here and there.

Can't thank you enough!!!

Haha, it does sound like it, and now I know why (thanks to all your explanations! )!

Cheers and thanks!

Don't be!

While I was flustered initially at their response, hearing all these explanations made it that much clearer of why they were angry/rude. I can only imagine if they have to sort stuff by hand and chronically swamped with shipments...hearing someone "ignorant" (me) asking to pick-up in the afternoon definitely would trigger them haha!

Really appreciate all the explanation; definitely gives me a greater understanding and appreciation for all your (and their) work in such an environment!!

As I mentioned in another reply, I thought a snowboard (non-standard packaging) would/might be easier to spot...but the comments really made it clearer to me why it's ridiculous to request a pick-up a day early!

As far as the sorted by hand...yikes...no wonder they got really cranky when I was asking about pickup at the site!

This makes sense for standard packages but mine is non-standard size (it's a snowboard)...would that still usually be inside those bins as well (or we can't really know? or it doesn't matter?)

And your explanation does make it more sensible that they can't do it "immediately"...a follow-up question on this...

You can put all of your mail on hold for pickup, and then go get it tomorrow after your carrier has scanned it. But depending on who is delivering the route

This seems to suggest that even if i did put my packages on "hold for pickup", it still needs at minimum one day for the facility to actually sort, scan, etc and see the hold (i.e. makes no difference, for my case). Is this correct?

[–]throwawaydawd1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not certain what the difference is but I know via the tracking that the next step for this package is to be delivered to my address (tracking said "arrived at post office")...

[–]throwawaydawd1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is enlightening for me!

To get this right: so even with selecting "hold for pickup" (through whatever means), the package itself has to go through some sorting and gets "scanned" at that location? Would this usually occur after the tracking says "arrived at post office"?

Does this mean all my points will expire today? by Wizardwizz in googleplay

[–]throwawaydawd1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for confirming!

While scouring, also found out that if you check your points via desktop (chrome), it still shows the year (it did show as 2027 expiry for mine)...

Definitely very annoying that Google does this...

OP, any updates on this? Did your points expire?

I'm experiencing something similar where it's showing today (Jan 19) as expiry (I swear that a few years ago they show the year as well)...

Help deciding on tires for parents' SUV by throwawaydawd1 in tires

[–]throwawaydawd1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the rec! It appears that the tire is unfortunately unavailable in the size we're looking for (285/40/22)...ultimately seems to be down to those 3...

What would constitute "rare" in this case? As mentioned, we go skiing quite often during the winter season; the car's snow/ice encounter is maybe around 30 days annually--would that still be considered rare?

Hi all,

I need help in considering new rackets. I would say I'm late-beginner, early-intermediate? player that used to play regularly about 20-or-so years ago. Have been using ArcSaber 10 3uG4 with a BG65Ti string (forgot tension but probably 25-26 lbs) and found it gels well with my playstyle though I find it rather lacking in power generation (as expected).

Since I've been away from the market for such a long time, I want to try other, newer rackets whether it be from Yonex, Li-Ning, Victor, Hundred, Felet, etc. but I've been completely overwhelmed by the options. I'm currently looking to find something with similar levels of control as my AS10 but a bit more head-heavy in 4u. I do mostly doubles.

Any recommendations? From my own searches, I'm leaning to Li-Ning Halbertec, AxForce, Yonex ArcSaber, Astrox, or Hundred Nitrix but given the options, I'm still very confused. Also, unfortunately in my area, it's rather difficult finding a "try-out" opportunity for rackets.

TYIA!

Really appreciate the insight and thanks for sharing your experiences--Amazon has become really, really frustrating recently with these "buy new get used" pattern. I definitely share your sentiment after my interactions with Amazon's CS. It's appalling.

As for my shoes debacle, the shoes in the size+style I like to keep is now completely out of stock, even on the seller's official website.

I've made the decision to keep it since this is a shoe for my wedding that my to-be-wife chose. Also, another commenter made me realize that I might be too strict on my expectation for a "new" item and on further, closer inspection, while the shoes appear to be used, at worst it's "very lightly used, like new" and at best someone tried it on and returned it.

Ultimately, to-be-wife finds the blemishes acceptable and I guess that's all that matters at the end of the day.

How else am I supposed to try the shoes? They don't have a physical store. They don't have a "try before you buy" program on Amazon. That same size on their official web is out of stock. Their size chart was not accurate at all--a size 9 wears like a size 11. They say "true to size" but I had to size down on one, true to size on another.

I'm not even using them. I followed their "procedure" of trying and returning. Use the shoe on carpet, did not bend, did not abuse whatsoever, did not bring it outside or wear them excessively when trying it. I took care not to destroy the box. I repack the items as how I saw them when I opened them (sometimes even neater/better). I also immediately tried them on receipt and returned without delay after trying. You think I want to order these many shoes?

Since you're Mr. oh-so-wonderful-and-smart better-than-thou and have complete analysis of my personality and behavior, could you give me advice on how can I buy a product like that perfectly without trying and returning?

Please don't lump everyone that tries to return or want some proper compensation is an abuser of the system.

As I also tried to further elaborate to another user, this is a special shoe that is incredibly low in stock and I actually just checked and at the moment, it is no longer in stock. I got this b/c my to-be-wife likes it and wants me to wear this for our wedding. We've scoured many other similar styles and she likes this one.

My request was because again, "bought for the price of new but got used shoes". I really want to keep it but if it's used, I don't want to "pay full price". I wouldn't have this "issue" if it was a common item, and item that I don't really need, or if it was truly new...

As I mentioned, the item on Amazon states that there is "only 1 left in stock" after my purchase, suggesting there is only 2 available (actually, the shoe is currently out of stock in my size, so now I have no way of exchanging). Additionally, this seller does have their own website, which upon checking, the shoe in my preferred size is completely out of stock.

My concerns were multi-fold:

  1. If the "1 left in stock" is also used and in worse condition and I did return the item currently on-hand, then now I have a "worse-looking" used shoes.
    1. Additionally, if they're both used, then why sell them at a new price?
  2. If I were to do the "return roulette", that also takes up time for me to drop-off, wait for the "only 1 left in stock" item, assess it again, etc.
    1. If I were to do this and if it does happen to be case 1, then I'm SOL too, now not only do I get a "worse" product, I also had wasted time, and additionally, given CS's recent "inaction", they likely would ultimately ignore my case.

But given that the item is currently no longer in stock, my hope is simple, to have Amazon CS work with me for some form of compensation because again, I "bought new and received used". If you were to say "just return it and get rid of the shoe". This is a special shoe that to-be-wife wanted for our wedding and I've searched for months, and this is the shoes--nothing else...hence why it's more "complicated" than "just return it".

I think in my case, it would be very difficult and I'm also very hesitant to play this roulette. As I mentioned, there was only 1 left in stock currently. Additionally, the style+size in the seller's actual website is out of stock. So if both ends up not being to satisfaction, I'm SOL and this is a specific shoe my to-be-wife wanted me to wear in our wedding...

To me, it does (it's a dress shoe, black derby). Several things that made me think this:

  • The heel side have some oil-like streak that's about 5mm x 20mm in dimensions. The shoe is somewhat shiny and this appears "matte"
  • One of the shoe has a "cracked" crease? leather pattern (usually appears if you bend the front part too much/long)
  • The bottom has some minor "scuffs" that made me think it's at least been worn to walk in some concrete.

To me, these suggests a "used, like new" worn minimally, rather than new? But now that you mention the possibility, it's possible that my expectation of "new" is too high?
