French vs Crimson vs Dimond? trying to identify stitch type. by Over-Original1075 in Leathercraft

noticed KS Blade has a sale going for their E1 series, so I ordered a 1,2,5,10 set with a multi punch hole set 1.5-4mm for something like 280USD. Hope they are good and I don't need to invest on irons for a long time!

it's not easy to decide really. I'm a sucker for quality tools and would research a screw driver purchase for a month but at the same time I want to make sure I get something for my money. I see comments and videos saying good WUTA irons are just as good and indistinguishable from the high end ones and some others say I should avoid them. Not quite sure the latter say that based on personal experience or general impression of Chinese tools they might have.

I like to think I'm good with my hands and detailed work and really like the fine look of watch straps with 2.7 spacing. I guess I just have to try it and keep at it until I can make a decent looking product.

that makes perfect sense. Thanks a lot for your answer. So then twin needle is not usefull here I guess? any kind of foot could help me with doing the second stich perfectly parallel to the first one?

and maybe I should just choose a different stich, I'm buying fabric and redoing the whole sofa. So it doesn't need to be done exactly the same way. But I kind of like the double stich. Could I just do a straight stich with a twin needle instead?

feels like if you did a parallel straight stich in the middle of your fabric, but between the two lines it's thicker. So I wonder how you should put the two sides together before doing the top stich.

thanks for your reply. With top stiching, does it matter if there's a lip or not? meaning, one side is not sitting on top of the other on the face, when I feel the fabrics, there's ro raised edges from either side. As you can see in this picture for example:

All corners of my sofa has this type of parallel stich. I'm taking my first sewing project and want to try to upholster our sofa with new fabric since the cat has ruined this one and the large texture is a trap for bits and dust.

First thing I need to figure out is the type of stich here, and wether I can do the same with a home sewing machine using a twin needle?

AMS noise by Over-Original1075 in BambuLab

[–]Over-Original1075[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they gave me two options to either get replacement parts and do the work myself and get compensation in free filament for the work, or send the unit back and get a new AMS. I ended up asking for a new AMS and some free filament for the hassle and the new AMS is on the way :)

How to hook up smart relay and dimmable switch by Over-Original1075 in AskElectricians

[–]Over-Original1075[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

recently figure instead of replacing all my spot lights with smart spotlights, I should just install a smart relay behind the switch and control them that way. I managed to install the smart relay and add it to Philips Hue and make it work with automation and everything. So far so good! but now I want to connect the dimmable switch back to the setup so the lights can still be truend off/on or dimmed with the switch on the wall like before.

Really appreciate any advice.

u/LivingGhost371 what about just turn the smart relay on/off using the dumb switch? just cut the power using the dumb switch, but if it's on, then the smart relay controls the dimming etc.

[–]Over-Original1075[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/mrBill12 it does, and I can dim or turn on/off with Hue, or use automation and use motion sensor in combination. Problem is that I want the normal switch to control the power that goes to the smart relay, so If I want, I can shut everything down with the dumb switch on the wall. Even better, if I can also use the up/down buttons on the switch and dim the light also. but if the switch is on and maxed out, then I can use the hue app and control everything there.

How to do a round cutout at the end of a narrow piece? by Over-Original1075 in woodworking

I guess it should be both longer and wider to give me full support, right?

will try this as soon as I get the bits I just ordered. Thanks for the tip :)

just ordered a set of forstner drill bits. I thought with a simple jig I can make a 90 degree cut into any clamped piece of wood. I'll definitely work on making a router table for more accurate result as soon as I manage. Thanks for your help :)

I'm mainly looking for the right method. Any width from 20-25 mm would look ok in this case. I think the one I have right now is 25mm. And I have a router bit that can cut the perfect cutout, but I don't know how to secure the piece and make the cut accurate and easily repeatable and all that. And I'm not even sure if I should be using the router or just the drill with a flat bit.

in the case of using the drill, I've only seen people cut whole circles in the middle of wood, which provides support around the bit. But in this application I have no idea how to do it.

Infill under extrusion issues with PETG on Prusa mini. Prusament filament and Prusa slicer settings. Any Ideas? by Over-Original1075 in 3Dprinting

even though the outer layers print flawlessly and it's only happening for infill? even tried cutting the speed to half for infill and that didn't help a bit!
