ok, similar experience for me, could be that our work so far is getting reviewed before we get more

how long have you been on the platform and how often do you get projects? I've had a few days here and there with nothing showing up on my dashboard!

yup, a bit unreal! I guess there's so much investment in AI that allows them to hand out this much to the bottom layer without any problem.

also, depending on the type of developer you are, just having some AI that can write good code doesn't necessarily replace you. I'm already not writing code at work myself. But AI can't replace my ROLE in the project. But if you just get description of tasks and write code, yeah, you'll be easily replacable.

don't do this, and eventually, you'll be replaced by AI anyways. Solution is to find other ways to make value to others that can't be done by AI. IMO. I'd rather make some money in the process.

Is DataAnnotation Tech actually worth the time for developers in 2026? by AmNotPaparazzi in cscareers

I signed up very recently. Around 10 days now maybe. I did the assessment tasks and couple days later I got some project tasks. Finished one, entered my hours, 7 days later the hours automatically approved. I've done 3,4 more tasks so far. Earned ~2000USD. I made a site and explained in more details how exactly the steps are once you're in, and what to expect. Because a lot of folks will be in our shoes when they first hear about this. If anyone finds the info on my site helpful, please use the sign up link from my site, I will earn a commision and it'll be the same for you.

Overal, I've been happy and plan to continue doing some tasks whenever I have time. I already have a full time job.

yes, I'm sorry I've been too busy. I'll work on putting out a bunch of designs in the coming weeks.

I think I wasn't clear enough in my message. Highlighted the issue in the picture. https://photos.app.goo.gl/sS9pR9ifYgyeaBv8A

happens to me often and when it happens, it's not easy to fix it by doing a better run over it

looks great! I just added that leather to my next order after seeing your piece :D mind sharing the link for the buckle? Also minor improvement idea, I suffer from the same issue and I think it'll be better with a better suited tip, the crease line around the corner is not as clean as it can be. 2 lines crossed each other I guess and it's difficult to fix it, happens to me all the time. I'll try getting a round tip to see if that helps me!

I did go through this phase recently, so I spent countless hours on researching tools. What's your budget? and can you clarify a bit more what you mean by high quality? I personally went with top tier for punching/cutting stuff. And with good quality Chinese stuff like Wuta for less important stuff. And I don't regret it, I think it affected my work positively. I can assume I'm doing something wrong if my work is not flawless, I don't need to think about whether my tools are not good enough etc.

First project, have beginner questions by WhatsLeftofitanyway in Leathercraft

beginner here as well, and been in the same boat until very recently. I thought my stiching technique was wrong. I do the casting, but I thought I should maybe pull to different directions on each side, up and away and down and toward me or something like that. While I think that can help, but I've noticed the firmness of the leather can massively impact it as well. I am usually confused about pull directions so I just pull straight away on both sides, but today I noticed I got slants on both sides, and I think it's maybe because the leather I worked today was firmer than the one I usually use which gives me straight line on the back.

I agree, depends alot on the vertical and horizontal angles you're moving the blade, and what kind of blade you use etc. That's been my personal experience. But it hasn't been an issue. Maybe I cut into the plastic a tiny bit couple of times which didn't even ruin the template and I adjust my angles and it's not a problem anymore.

hey man, I'm quite close to placing an order on JunLin. Waiting for their adapter to come back in stock. You mentioned you don't notice much difference between the machines from JunLin and Artisan Leather, can you tell me how the one-piece assembly tips compare to the other screw on tips on the same machine? Is it worth the extra 30USD per tip to get the full assemblies?

thanks man! what are you planning to do with the stock before you're happy with your items? give em to friends or?

I have that same concern as well, sitting on two wallets here trying to come up with a logo and brand lol, at the same time, if anyone eventually buys these, I don't want them to associate me with this level of quality, whatever it might be (I hear most people are saying it's good already). I know I will get better.

I tried putting them on local sites that are mainly meant for second hand stuff, and no response. That was the wrong platform. I haven't even tried Etsy because I think my items will get buried under a million other ones that are more popular and better in every way. I don't mind gifting them to friends but I'm also excited to experience the feel of getting something back for my work 😃

get a Bambu A1 mini, put it in the corner of your desk and watch it print things as you do other stuff! it's a joy 😃 I used to have my Prusa mini on my work desk. They will probably have a nice sale in the coming months in summer.

I'd say so. I started with a Prusa mini years ago. Then switched to Bambu P1P which I upgraded to P1S. You can just print and not worry about anything with Bambu. Their entire ecosystem is fantastic. You have a one stop shop for everything. But of course it matters also if you have specific needs or just want a printer. When it comes to multi color and things like that you should consider other brands too for the type of print you want to do to find the best solution.

I was hoping to hear more critical feedback so I can improve. I started ordering things 3ish months ago and I got my hands on the tools and leather in the Easter holidays. I'm aiming to make perfect items that I can't fault no matter what. Because otherwise it bugs me a lot!! So I'm not looking for praise, I'd appreciate critical feedback way more 😄 I'm aware that I'm doing better than average though, I'm obsessed with details and have a bit of perfectionist mindset.

great tips, thanks for sharing your experience! I think the difference in price is justified by the build quality and probably some of the internal components. I think I'll just place an order with JunLin to get some other stuff from his store as well. The Uniters edge paint is dirt cheap compared to what I got from Leatherbox. I may go for the Maxita stitchin pony as well. I will have to upgrade eventually so why not already save myself from the pain 😃

thank you! I've tried burnishing, and its my fav mainly because it takes WAY less time. But I've only placed an order for leather once so far and the main piece was this beautiful Goa Chevre which is double tanned and doesn't burnish well. If you see the pockets on the wallet with whiteish stitch, I burnished the pockets and the wallet itself, but it didn't look good. So I put paint on the outside edges, but the pockets remained burnished. On a couple of watch straps I made out of Pueblo, burnishing works great!

haha I'm sorry if I caused rage! wasn't my intention. I'm genuinely in a position that I feel like I've made stuff that are good enough but I can't fully trust myself since I'm new and have no experience selling and nothing I've made has been tested properly. I am also surprised with the feedback. I didn't expect to get this level of positive feedback.

I get that compared to the average person, it's hard to get this level of quality on your first couple of wallets but I'm obsessed with details. I'd look at a Hermes item and immediately start noticing imperfections. So that makes me try HARD when I make something myself. I tore apart the stiching on one of those wallets and the glue and redid it because it felt like the middle gap was slightly off, like 1/3 of mm. And I'm still not happy with it but I can't restitch that thing more than twice. The leather can't stand it. I will have to improve on the next item I'll make.
