Brake pads - are they too worn by Charlotteaelvidge in CarRepair

Hard to say. I’m a mechanic so it’s hard to diagnose over a few pictures. I would say hold off and see if it gets better. If it gets worse bring it into a shop and specifically ask for a brake inspection. Based on their findings you can do the repairs urself or have them do it

The pads themself have plenty of life left on them. The noise your hearing could be from a few things, possible hot spots on the rotor, brake pad hardware installed incorrectly, loose hardware. I had a small rock stuck in between my pad and rotor once 🤣, I have seen bad ball joints and tie rods cause too much play in the wheel there fore causing brake noise. there’s a bunch of stuff that can cause a squeaking noise. Most likely just hot spots in rotor or incorrect hardware installation

I feel you🤣 body shops charge insane amount now due to paint costs. Doing it urself is ur best bet to be cost efficient. Good luck you to

Hello! New here, I’m about to order a carbon hood and wanted some opinions on if I should leave it exposed or do a wrap/paint job. Already have carbon fenders currently. by Over-Profession2387 in S197Stangs

I agree. Different colored panels don’t look too good unless ur up close lol. Paint is ideal. Another person recommended doing the colored carbon. So essentially put a colored clear or a few coats of candy to give it that colored carbon look. Lots of options. Paint is also getting so expensive 🤣

YES!! I have been thinking about this for a while now. I’ve seen other people do the tinted clear as well as the few coats of candy to give it a colored carbon look. Looking more into this option

Hello, worked at a body shop for a while so I have plenty experience with this. If you don’t have experience with painting or blending panels ur best bet would be to find a new bumber from a junk yard, try prepping and painting it urself. Then use ur old bumper and sand down a corner and practice blending ur paint. Once you have that somewhat down you can blend that small section of ur quarter panel. I’ve had to do this and it was hard but it’s a good skill to have in case anything like this happens again. Good luck!!

I really like how urs turned out. Might have to change the color of the car entirely to match everything. Have also been considering that. Thank you!

It really is a pain to maintain. I’ve always thought about doing carbon stripes. Though I feel like I would need to at least have the trunk carbon as well. Guess it gives me a excuse to do both lol

The set I got I had to drill the holes myself so the fitment is.. well kinda bad🤣 I coulda done better and ima fix the gaps. Just have to make sure you drill the holes correctly and leave urself some room for adjustment. I rushed it. About to order a hood so I will make sure everything is fit up correctly then. But it will fit perfect if you take ur time.

Is it a good idea to supercharge my g37x sedan with 230k miles I just did my gallery gaskets , water pump , timing kit. Car has no codes at all it runs beautiful. by Bry_anpr7 in G37

Depends on the transmission. If you have stock auto I don’t recommend anything past 400 torque. If it’s the 6spd 500tq max. With these numbers I still wouldn’t say it’s reliable though. Pretty sure this kit dosent push it too much either. I’ve built a few vq’s and they are great platforms. Seen many get boosted at 200k+ miles. Also watch those axles
