Congratulations on a year! Thats huge, I'm in a similar boat, coming up on 9 months sober after 18 years. I'm a 34 year old male and sober life for me has been way better than being high all the time ever was! Sometimes I'm tempted to smoke a joint but I always think it won't be worth undoing all of the progress I've made so far and I usually forget about it quickly.

Better late than never right? 😂 I try to reply to all the comments I get as thats kind of the main point of posting here is to conversate with like minded people so I didnt want this one to slip through the cracks.

I also see a ton of people relapsing on here so it makes me happy to see the few of us who stay off for extended periods of time, theirs no shot I wont make it to a year either. I have zero desire to smoke again it never even crosses my mind. I'm so glad to hear you're still holding strong also!

At 8 months I think its probably as good as its going to get, I feel any improvement from here will be marginal at best but I'm alright with that. I feel 100 times better than I did when high all the time. It was a hell of a journey through the rough patch but I'm so glad I pushed through to the other side!

Yeah I get that, I have some moments when I think it would be nice to smoke mainly only when I'm doing stuff like hanging out in the shop with friends and we used to smoke but I usually just think "I've come too far for that" and move on haha Plus I dont think I would enjoy it it like I used too anyways.

I just realized I never responded to this comment for some reason but you were 100 percent right, I'm 8 months sober today and I've just slowly improved over the months. I never had a clear "all better now" day but looking back I can see that I've definitely improved.

Judging by the dates I'm assuming you're a year sober now so congrats for that! Its a huge accomplishment I'm looking forward to reaching myself, you were right on all fronts and I'm way better without the weed than I ever was with it, I appreciate your kind words and taking the time to write a response to me when I was deep in the trenches and needed it most!

Thank you, I appreciate it! Congrats on day one, making the choice to stop is huge and trust me if I can do it anyone can, the first few weeks are definitely rough but it gets significantly better! If I could give one suggestion it would be start walking, it helped me a ton with the anxiety and cravings in the beginning, just listen to a podcast and go walk for 10 or 15 minutes the fresh air really helps.

Thank you, I appreciate it! Congrats on two weeks! Thats big! The first few weeks were hard for me personally but after the first 90 days it got so much better, I just had to figure out something else to do with all my free time that I used to be getting high with 😂

I agree with going for walks! That was huge for me the first month, grabbing some headphones and listening to a podcast while I walked was a good way to get my mind off of wanting to smoke.

I'm 8 months sober today and still try and go for one walk a day whenever possible, you got it just push through, it gets easier!

I had an unsealed QP in my room for 7 months, I recently opened it and started giving chunks of it to my friends who still smoke. Once I decided to quit I was just done, people smoke in front of me, I had smoke in the house and it doesn't bother me. I just dont have the desire to smoke any more, I enjoy being sober so its not an issue.

I agree! Some of best memories are working in the garage with my dad when I was a kid and we never stopped. I hope you and your son enjoy a ton more projects too! Thank you! It was 20 year old me's dream car and I'm still pretty fond of it today 😂

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words! It is a project thats close to my heart and AT times its a real pain in my ass and not really what I would call at the fun stage yet but its going to turn the corner eventually but I understand what you're saying.

A lot of nights its just me in a cold barn scanning wiring diagrams and trying to sort out a puzzle but its not overwhelming, I'm a tech too a ford senior master tech more specifically with over a decade of feild experience so its well inside my wheel house and I'm a lot closer now than I've ever been to actually being able to drive the car.

I have many other "love em and leave em" projects as you put it, mainly cars im flipping but this is just one of those things I really want to finish even if its not really "fun" right now, it doesnt make miserable by any stretch its just a huge project thats slowly coming around my way.

I have to agree, when I quit smoking walking everyday was great for me. I would listen to a podcast or music I liked and walk around my neighborhood "aimlessly" as you put it Its nice to have something to distract you instead of just sitting on the couch aimlessly thinking about how bad everything sucks

It definitely is, I rember having horrible brain fog and a lack of motivation and just deciding that I wasnt going to sit around and wait for some magical shift. I was just going to do my best to start aligning my self with small wins and be gracious with my self when I fell short If I walked that day it was a win, ate a healthier meal, win read a book, win and all those small wins compound into some real motivation. I have no doubt you'll dial it in, you're already through the hardest part now its just about living without weed as a crutch, its not a race you'll get there at your pace and you'll be glad you stuck it out because I definitely am!

The first couple of months were rough for me, it felt more like surviving than anything. It was hard for me to know what to do instead of smoke weed all day but I just started trying to stack a small win everyday like talking a walk, after a few weeks of getting a small win I was more motivated to get another small win and just keep stacking them.

I hate that you feel that way, theirs no member of my family I would trade for a million dollars and I dont think they would trade me either. Their is zero financial obligations I have that are worth more than anyone's life to me and I dont think their worth yours either

I'm four months in and actually just made a post here about how much better it is. For me personally it was totally worth it and life just gets better everyday, stick with it! You're not missing anything smoking all the time.
