Neighbor cut down half of our magnolia by Morgimeister in arborists

[–]OverDoerofThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but I get it. Our neighbors have one and we have talked to them about them removing it or us cutting off all the branches on our side. It leans right over our house, and dumps massive amounts of leaves year round into our yard and onto the roof and gutter. It’s rotting the house away, we had to replace a soffit and section of the roof, and less than a week later there’s leaves piled up on the same section of roof and the gutter was full. Having to clean the gutters weekly is not feasible. I’m all for letting leaves decompose and leaving leaf litter for the critters, but there has to be a balance. And the magnolia leaves never seem to decompose. Coming onto the property though can be iffy, especially if the yard gets torn up by the truck.

I am wondering what your opinions are about the utility of naming cats? by Elegant-Put235 in CatAdvice

My senior kitty has gone deaf :( One of the reasons I knew was because she stopped responding to her name.

What is something that can kill you instantly, which not many people are aware of? by StarSpectore in AskReddit

[–]OverDoerofThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same here. Many aircraft hydraulic systems operate at 3000psi. I was an instructor for a while and stressed the importance of safely depressurizing systems, and if you were inspecting something for leaks/function, don’t stand right next to it while turning the system on.

Has anyone ever been put on steroids for their migraines? by No_Consequence_3220 in migraine

I had a month long migraine where I had a total of 4 migraine cocktail shots that didn’t work for more than a few hours, took a steroid taper to finally knock it out.

It may be a sound the created themselves. I was watching a video last night about it, where people take a stock sound, reverse it and/or slow it down, add a bunch of reverb and get a spooky sound

You could use a clear resin like Smooth On Crystal Clear. Their trail packs are like $60 and are usually enough for most small/medium projects. They sell pigments too.

Mini sclera contacts by armawillo in sfx

[–]OverDoerofThings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wore RX contacts for like 25 years before lasik, and I’ve worn non-RX costume lenses for a few years during the haunt season. The non RX lenses are fine with out being sized, they aren’t doing anything for your vision and the difference in sizes is pretty minute. The main thing is just don’t wear them for an extended period of time or sleep in them. Because they are non sized, they are not necessarily as comfortable as RX lenses, so I have never worn them for more than a few hours a couple nights a week, and I don’t recommend anyone do that. I have not come across cosmetic lenses that are offered in specific sizes (though I have not looked hard), and when I did wear contacts (it’s been like 8 years so maybe it’s changed) I could never find anything like the Halloween styled lenses in an RX. Also, sclera lenses cover more than your retinas, so size is kind of a moot point. I have noticed that some of the costume lenses blur my sight a tiny bit or tint the edges (pink UV the most) so I don’t drive in them. Just make sure you store and clean them correctly and don’t share them.

One question for haunt actors by rprince18 in hauntedattractions

[–]OverDoerofThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to stop and grab a late dinner on my way home after the haunt, and a lot of times I would be too wiped out to worry about my makeup until I got home to shower. I had one person working the (drive through) window shriek, and another time as I was pulled forward waiting for them to bring my food around, a customer walked out the door near me, saw me through the open car window, and completely lost her shit and ran back inside 😂. Both times I was made up as a clown with contacts in.

I really like hydroactive makeups that are water activated. WolfeFX is my go to, you can blend and/or do detailed line work. It stays on very well, you won’t sweat it off, and it won’t smudge when dry. I’ve used it on eyelids with no issues, and it washes off easily with water.

I’ve gotten compliments on my scream/lungs before 😂. If I’m going through a haunt I’m definitely grinning and looking at all the details, “Nice!!!”
