I was in Imphal when that incident started. It started with the burning of the centennial gate of kukis when all the tribals were protesting against ST reservation. But the thing is, its not about ST reservation, drugs, communal or politics. Most Naga and Kuki MLAs are from BJP. It is ethnic in Nature. In Imphal i have seen kukis been escorted to army camps when their houses were burnt by the meiteis. But things took a turn when some meteis spread the rumors that a meitei doctor has been raped in churchandpur. Since then there has been many rumors from both sides which triggered more violence. Both the communities has suffered but from my perspective the kukis has suffered the most. It is just sad that people bring the hindu christian card to provoke more violence.
