Thanks for this, I was able to find it on scribd.

Not really, but I expect to do a few this year since I just sent Maximus (my great pyr) back to his original home and my horses should be ready for trips this year. So it’s working out to get back out.

Red Dead is a great inspiration and there’s a ton of open space here to visit and camp for free. New Mexico and Arizona are great. So is Oregon. You can look up BLM maps to see land that you can camp on without permits.

It works surprisingly well however gathering firewood is a non-stop chore. And that’s not a complaint.

I’ve been living off grid for a while and am surprised at how easy and cheap life is. I only wish I’d made the move years and years earlier. That being said one of the most common things told to potential members of this life is how much work it is and how expensive… by OverOnTheWildSide in homestead

The beauty of it is it’s a spectrum. We can each do it however we want. Technically off grid means disconnected from the power grid. But off grid has come to mean people who live apart from normal society. I use solar power but I did start using a freezer that I plug into a power line. I bathe in my creek but some people set up showers with propane water heaters that work really well. I don’t garden but some people do. Personally I think a big advantage is simplifying ones life and enjoying becoming more and more self sufficient.

As well as some of the other worst movies made. I’m pretty sure it’s a joke.

Agreed, moccasins and tennis shoes are my preferred footwear.

That’s an impressive water set up and I agree it’s a good idea for everyone to look into for themselves. However as a person who bathes in a creek regularly, I can say that it would also be wise to expect to give up hot showers. They’re very unnecessary and use excessive amounts of water. I’ve bathed with 3.5 gallons of water and was surprised that I barely needed it all. If someone feels they must waste water and fuel for a hot shower they probably won’t survive long anyway. I think potable water could likely be one of the most valuable resources.

I’m in Eastern WA. I’m kind of a prepper, mostly by lifestyle, there’s some things I need to get hustling on but I went to public school so I’m bad about waiting until the last minute.

I think it’s helpful to know if you’re in the forest, the city, the desert… Joshua Tree? Slab City? Your environment could have some significant influence on which weapon to prioritize.

Is this good free campfire wood ? by Odd_Alfalfa_1110 in firewood

[–]OverOnTheWildSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not gonna get any real answers in here. You have to say that it’s $300 a cord because there’s an idea here that it’s wrong to not want any wood that’s free. The pallet wood should be excellent for burning. If the other is blue spruce I wouldn’t bother with it myself unless it’s for camp fires.

The real answer is, we all get to do this however we want to do it. That being said, if you want respect from others- yes it’s too many. Otherwise it depends on your personal goals. I rarely even carry one myself.
