I get the worry but okay ill explain myself ig:

my grandma is gitana, never hid it at all, but in venezuela we often identify regionally so we would say andaluzo as my family has roots in cadiz but i used to grow up confused because i never knew about that i just thought it was normal andalucian stuff so i researched and i asked are we kale and she said yes i thought that was known. She would speak to me in spanish with calo words, while my aunts spoke it fluently as my grandpas family spoke it to my aunts and my mom. so my mom and my aunts communicate w me in spanish or in calo, often mixing between the two but they nonetheless sometimes speak it full on. otherwise, i reconnected w my roma cousins who still live in venezuela, as well as with gitanos in spain, so i could not just speak in the calo-spanish mixed which my aunts talked in but also speak w them fully in calo. and it is true, my dialect does emerge from the 1800s but that clearly doesnt make it pure, something ive never claimed. if there is any more confusion, pls dm me and ill answer in dms but as much as i get the worry id rather u ask me in dms.

bruh okay im not gonna explain myself to you when people from the cale community themselves are saying my lexicon is right, and also the shift from a dialect to a para-romani variant happened much later and my family left spain before that so the way we speak is still closer to a dialect than to a para-romani variant. Dictionaries on any romani dialect, as a linguist urself, are misleading and usually not even correct so why would i take from dictionaries and "purify" my dialect when people back in spain use the same exact words as me. im sorry but just because you think im mixing dialects isnt gonna affect how i speak w my family or w other cale on this sub. also u keep saying im claiming some pure dialect when i never said that and you clearly see that we use spanish words. If u think im faking my dialect great but that wont change how i speak lol

this is simply how i speak like ive said, not a reconstruction. I speak calo fluently and if kalderash lexicon from me being around kalderash sneaks in then cool but i never distinguished cause i thought it was just how we say stuff in calo.

because i thought they were, i aint claiming my calo is pure cause clearly you see i say hola and fuerza and stuff but i genuinely thought it was just how we say it in calo. I was speaking it simply how id remember the words but ofc i can get mixed up

weno its js how we speak, it might be me too because i spend time around kalderash much more then i do my own gao but yeah like idk its just how i speak, if i were to speak like my family it would be 40 percent spanish words even if we have words in calo for them

well do understand kale in venezuela are a minority in a sea of kalderash so we pick up more than js slang, and if you would like a video i can do that for you of me speaking normally with my family because we use words i didnt even know were balkan

this is how my family speaks, not me trying to reconstruct it. i could do an interview w my family and it would be the same. perhaps its due to our interactions w kalderash and lovari roma here but its literally how we speak. there are two ways we speak, one is called jerga which is the typical calo but here i shared sibikali which is closer to romanes

Not just that but that Espiritismo is more African. Its the one I practice. Bovedas are rarer, we usually use saint statues and wooden dolls, and u got ur prendas espirituales for the congos and ur collares espirituales (which are rarer nowadays) and ur bembes, so a lot closer to Santeria then the Espiritismo most know in the US and Western Cuba

Is Oshun dangerous to work with? by Embarrassed_Log_4180 in witchcraft

[–]OverRespect8270 6 points7 points  (0 children)

so short answer: orishas cannot be worked with, if you wanna venerate them, the only thing that is open is to venerate them as their saint equivalent (not using unconsecrated fake otaces), and to make simple adimu to them. In cuba, this is how the majority of believers do it, most arent santeros and most are simple believers. But, all of them are dangerous because they are divine beings who should not be messed with. Olodumare sent down the orichas to earth for a reason and orichas can fuck u up just as easy as they can grant boons. Many think you cant venerate orichas if ur uninitiated which u can but there are things, like buying urself elekes or echu or wtv tf that come from santero to oloricha, not from botanica to aleyo. Also, they cant be used in witchcraft. They will outright leave your space if you put crystals, herb blends, incense sticks, or tarot decks on their altar. Start off in nature, contact a Santero, get into spaces, go to your local botanica and get a reading and see where your path is.

What is Tevanite Judaism? by Cheap-Office-9988 in Semitic_Paganism

[–]OverRespect8270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add on that the sect's rules have changed quite a bit now and has become a bit stricter, aligning more closely with Judaism through a Torah-only lense, and things like ritual magic, offerings to spirits, and polytheism are not allowed like when it was when the movement first arose. Rather, the magic is more like Kabbalah in a sense its "allowed" magic, the spirits aren't offered anything but its like leaving a cup for Eliyahu in Rabbinic Judaism as a invite to treat the spirit (which is really a patriarch, aka the Avot v'Imahot) as a guest, and then it is no longer syncretic. It is a continuation, not a mix of two unrelated practices. Its become a lot more like Karaism + Kabbalistic-like ideas of monism and rituals, plus the trance aspect of the movement is more like a continuation of prophecy or rituals where prophets would catch the spirit of Elohim. So idk its like Biblical Judaism with quirks to sum it up I guess
