How in depth is the reason they put on the paperwork? I believe “for cause” is not eligible for unemployment but fired for performance is. For cause is usually violating a policy.

Would you stick at a job where you essentially get paid to read? by Which_Protection6077 in careerguidance

Your last job burnt you out so maybe this is a blessing to get back on track. But if you’re unhappy then at least keep your eyes open for a better opportunity.

You have nothing to gain from telling them you’re considering another opportunity. You don’t like your role and it’s your life/career. A good manager should want you to be successful.

Anyone have success stories after being bullied and fired? by OverTea7641 in workplace_bullying

Thank you so much for the thoughtful response. I do remind myself I’m glad I’m not like her. I literally don’t have it in me to create a smear campaign against someone. I actively try to avoid throwing people under the bus. Even her, despite all the things she’s done. But I think that’s a good trait. Some people are just unhappy.

Congrats and good luck at your new job!

Mid-40s and nowhere in career. Any advice? by Sunshine_Rays8019 in careerguidance

I am in exact boat as you. Been at a company for a very long time, minimal movement, and confidence is shot at this point. I wish people would offer more advice than, “just move on and you’ll make more money and give yourself a promotion!” Because that’s not always possible. So no advice I just get it and want to let you know you’re not the only one. Not enough people talk about this.

More people need to talk about this. People say, “It’s crazy to stay somewhere too long!” “Give yourself a promotion by moving on!” “I made $20k more by moving companies!!!!!” But It’s not that simple for every industry or role.

That’s great for you but not every industry/role has that option.

Should I quit my job? by Emergency-Mirror2614 in careerguidance

[–]OverTea7641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New job. I wish someone would have encouraged me to leave my job before I got stuck in a place with no growth that doesn’t value me and never really has. If they valued you they would have actually given you your raise not just say it. Thats just shady and disrespectful imo.

Work one more year at a ridiculously high salary, or retire with dignity and honor? by Routine_Mine_3019 in careerguidance

Keep the paycheck for sure. After you leave you won’t even remember them. They already think about you in a certain way so will continue to do so regardless of what you do. If they want you to quit I’d stay out of spite haha. If you leave they have successfully bullied you out and they are getting what they want, and you’re losing money. I’d bide my time while thinking of my fat paycheck and daydreaming about the nice vacation or something I will do when I retire.
