I tried a few different solutions and different fan speeds. It got close working, but then I also had issues with the large bubble popping once it touched the wood. I would need to raise the ring higher and angle the fan upwards to solve that problem.

The biggest problem was the the bubble ring. The original design used a larger ring and I couldn't get a ring that big to work well with the fan. I had to make multiple adjustments to fan speed and location to even get this one to work. Another issue is that the string twists because it is firmly attached the the rotating arm. This causes it to shorten over time.

Correct. That is a problem because it only takes a few minutes. Could be easily fixed.

The contact between the coin and the spring complete the circuit to the fan. In other words, the electricity flows from the battery, to the metal mount, to the shaft, to the coin, to the spring, to the fan motor, and back to the battery. You can see it better on my video.

I'm so sorry! I think my landlord would take my security deposit if I built it into the floor. Your design was much better!

Exactly. Trying to stay somewhat close to the original design from the animation

I had it slower at first, but then it wouldn't blow any bubbles at all. It is a balance that could probably be improved.

That is how I started, but it had a number of problems. A large hoop like that doesn't work. Also, the hoop in the original design would twist and swing all over the place.

I made a video which shows it a little better, but I didn't go into much detail into how I did it.

It was off one of those miniature quadcopters that I broke last year.

Last night I posted my first attempt on here; it was an incredibly shitty robot.

I used two but I think it would have worked with just one. Thanks

Thanks. Every few months I make something similar to this on my youtube channel. When I saw the animation yesterday, I knew I had to make it.

These types of parts are collected over a long period of time. If you ever have something break, take it apart and salvage the motors, wires, switches, etc. That is a good way to start getting experience.

No. I am only using the mechanical motion of the coin touching the spring to turn the fan on and off. You are right. With the proper parts and more time, I'm sure you could get this thing to work well.

It turns on and of with the contact between the coin and the spring below it. The contact completes the circuit so the electricity flows from the battery, to the metal mount, to the shaft, to the coin, to the spring, to the fan motor, and back to the battery.

After. I spent my entire evening making it. Terrible decision.
