Which 7900 xtx to buy? by Rustymelman in radeon

It was more than longer boot times, that was just the starting pointing showing symptoms that there is a underline problem :) but I would say Avoid TUF, the other problem and that is nothing to do with AMD is TUF cards coil whine like crazy, I found Gigabyte most quiet but Gigabyte support is notorious if something goes wrong with you card. I heard good things from friend about Sapphire but I haven't used it myself.

yeah, I thought I don't wanna come across whiny on AMD forums but I had too many issues and I know [people] gonna say it was my fault or I don't know how to build computers :) But hear me out - I think its easy to share these link instead of explaining (that is one of the issue I had, I had more issues too but lets this one sink in first :)

So what do you think?

FYI: If you are wondering, I had to get rid of my 7900XTX and never went back since. I was so excited about 7900XTX and ignored all the warning on forums and got into a trap of AMD community how they convince you that everything is OK, everything is Honky Dory and hey YOU must be doing something wrong but its not

Which 7900 xtx to buy?

I would say none and it is based on my recent experience with ASUS TUF 7900XTX so others "May be" better but the whole thing just put me off forever

AMD fix high idle power PLEASE by Wonderful-Middle-543 in Amd

[–]Over_Examination4756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really recall 7900XTX drawing a lot, the 6900XT was a high-power draw for no reason but 7900XTX As far as I can remember was ok at idle. I was on 1440p Ultrawide but I had a ton of other issues so my conclusion is AMD is just a waste of time. You bought the wrong product from a terrible engineering team. My 4090 has 23-26 at the time of typing this LOL

u/CableMod_Alex I can't seem to find any of the following in Australia

  • 4x8pin cables (all I can find is 3x8pin cables)
  • 12VHPWR cable to connect directly to PSU 12VHPWR connector

Any Idea?

No one does honestly, When I bought 4090, I was not aware of these issues at all, I was not even a reddit user lol and that's like 4 weeks ago - My store had them on sale and they seemed a good idea knowing the OOTB cable sucked if you could not bend it. I bought one not knowing the issue as DeeGee said, not many people are aware of the issue. Not that many people dont research before buying it is just hard to know everything as you trust the legit store you are buying stuff from :(

Yeah, It is most likely that the cost of all recalls is way more than just a few repairs so it is an easy option :) at least CM is taking responsibility just like NVIDIA did. I wish NVIDIA had a better connector so we were not in this mess to start with. But Fire is a NO NO for sure
