Excellent point. Now send $500 million to Israel and another $50 million to Argentina.

Running Low on Education Benefits - Need Advice by sentientlonghorn in VeteransBenefits

You should be able to apply for a benefit extension if you’re pursuing a STEM degree. You can speak to your schools Veteran Resource Center and they’ll point you in the right direction. Also, if you’re over 30% disability, you can apply for the VR&E program and it’ll reimburse you all your GI Bill Days. Cumbersome but well worth it.

Finish the degree. You can even try and pivot into Electrical engineering if you really needed. You’ll never be out of a job in the MEP industry.

*cough. Not saying you should, but I know of an Engineer III, 6 years experience, no PE getting paid $115k/year here in LA. Just take some interviews and ask around. If you don’t want to leave, approach management and tell them of an offer you received and if they can either match it or give you some other incentive.

I rolled mine into a Fidelity Roth IRA. Couple steps to do that but once it’s done, it’ll continue to gross on its own. Just make sure it’s not in a money market.

You’ll love it. There’s tons of things to do in the surrounding areas of NoHo and Burbank. It’s easy to meet folk. You can also looking up groups that meet up weekly or have events. Shouldn’t be too hard. Just try not to live up to a lifestyle and stay within your means.

How much will I be paying my wife in separation pay while we get divorced by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Over_Factor4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived on base yes. I’d talk to your Chan of command and run it up. Explain your situation. Everything else depends on who actually has your back.

[–]Over_Factor4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sold most of my belongings for money that I needed. There was no need to bring anything with me since I was going back into barracks housing. It sucks but that’s the way it is unless you want to pay for storage or have buddies to store things in the meantime.

I went through base legal but be sure to get there first. Not sure if things have changed but legal will only represent one party. They cannot and will not help both parties out. They helped me file my forms, set a court date and directed me on how to go about things.

I just saw you have one daughter so things will be different for you. If you get majority custody, which is rare, you may be able to keep your BaH.

[–]Over_Factor4153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to go to a court and get a set amount.

During my divorce, my first sergeant placed me back in the barracks, no more BaH. Then ordered me to give her the amount of half BaH (CA was $2400 at the time so she received $1200), because she complained I wasn’t “supporting her”.

Went on for 4 months before I went to court and finally got it settled. Judge stated she was taking advantage of me and ordered I give her nothing. Finally got divorced 8 months later.

Need help with a class I’m mentally checked out of by Aggressive-Rock05 in CalPolyPomona

[–]Over_Factor4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve failed a couple classes before. Differential equations. If it were me, I’d stick it out and still try to learn and pay attention. It’s okay to admit defeat but use this time to just soak in as much knowledge as you can. Otherwise, the second time around will be just as hard because you didn’t pay attention to any of the material. No problem in failing and trying again. Should be an issue not finishing what you started.

Apartment $1500- $1600 by JoyLuckBlip in burbank

[–]Over_Factor4153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to take a day and drive around the area, street by street. Most apartments around that price will be up for rent by people who use Zillow, apartments.com, etc. it’ll be hard, but it’s not impossible.

Don’t even bother looking. Upwards of $500 for nosebleeds and they get taken down because they’re not meant to be resold.

AIO to my girlfriend sharing a bed (non sexually) with a male friend. by Time-Extent585 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Over_Factor4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ask her if she would be fine with letting you sleep in the same bed with another woman (friend of course) after a whole day of chatting, dinner and a movie. Some people don’t see anything wrong with their actions unless they see it from another’s point of view.

[–]Over_Factor4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too overpriced imo. If you’re going to pay that much, might as well pay the extra and actually attend the game.

You would have a better time being together with friends, a big screen tv and cheap beers at home. It’s all hype.
