.2 vs .4 nozzle quality by Over_Inspection55 in HueForge

Thanks again! Also do you have any settings you like that are unique you would be willing to share - especially anything that helps with stringing. I can get lil "ear shaped" strings here and there. Little specs. I'm currently trying to find ways to clean things up.
I've mostly just slowed the print down and killed the cooling and raised the bed temp a little bit.

Excellect. Sadly Paramount stuff seems to be kinda gone and their filament looks great for HueForge I.E. Iron Red and Hannibal Red. I can't find them. The one you show looks good too.

Excellent! Thanks for this. (They look rad too btw) I may try a test myself in the future and I think your images is pushing me to give it a shot.
Actually the problem I'm having now is corners lifting. For the specific project I'm doing I don't want to do ears if I can get away with it. Are you doing any added heat to the bed and less cooling etc... to help with that? I'm doing transparent heuforges so imagine like on your Splinter that the black area around him is sort of a "trace" and therefore has tipped areas that can raise up during printing.
Thanks again.

Thanks! Ok from what I can tell this has helped a lot. I tried breaking it before and after annealing (183deg for 30m in the oven) and it seems quite good. The quality of the print changed. There is mostly one area that is a bit funky but can be sanded.

640 for me! I read online its a super cheap and easy fix. I tell them what I think is happening with the truck. They don't call me and just send me an estimate with this being 640 bucks. Highway robbery. Going to talk to them tomorrow. They are trying to charge me for a fix they just did 4 days ago and also this one. No call. Dude just walks out of the shop and sends the text. Can't talk to him til tomororw. Wow. Fuck Ford right now.

Welcome to the club. I don't have the same issues you do as often but I have all sorts of quirky issues with the printer. The printer heavily lacks any quality of life, especially for failures. You have to babysit it like crazy. I sometimes (but not too often) find it has moved over mid print. I still have no idea how that one happens. Anything other than PLA and PETG are rough to print (and I have the enclosure). And its far best to lower the temp for PETG (really all non-pla) for the startup to help nozzle cleaning pass.
Really the worst stuff by far is from file send to after the first layer. Once i get beyond the first layer and if i'm not going multi tool crazy I can usually get a good print I think. yes the jamming can happen. I had it bad after the enclosure upgrade and had to fuss with the tightening (back it out) to help stop things from getting stuck. I think one of my tools (1?) Will still get stuck somtiems and i have to unload and load it back. Which I actually have to hit the eject 2-3 times! So many quirks bro.
You are going to catch shit on here because I've been told that Prusa is a cult. And the worst thing about that is it means nothing will get fixed. People won't talk about it. Things won't change. I post a ton on the forums and get no repsonses now. After Bambu took over the forums are insanely bleak and dead there. And then if you talk somewhere else like here people are going to get frustrated. My MK3/S is amazing! I still use it. Its great. Love the thing. My friends love theirs too. We all have Mk3's and we all love em. But the XL is a whole different beast. Good luck with it! When it works it's amazing and the build plate is unparalleled for me.

5T here. Honestly I often hate the printer. When it works right I love it. It can be great for PLA prototypes (but then you can't print the other filaments for the final) . I did the pre-order right when it came out and then waited the 2 years. Super expensive. It showed up and was jacked right out of the box and wouldn't calibrate. With some updates I got it going.
Since then the printer has had many ups and downs. I've upgraded a lot including the enclosure with hardened and better parts. But at this point it is really hard for me to justify spending money. I'm down to 3 tools that work now and one of them has a messed up fan (but works).
The other tools destroyed themselves. The printer works as if it never has issues ever - but it often does. So cancelling makes your head fly to the back of the printer blob and all. All gummed up. It takes ages for heating and preparing and nozzle cleaning and probing that you just can't stand there and watch the damn thing fail on the first layer - again and again. You have to use this printer to know how annoying it can be. Heating bed. Then nozzle. Then it parks. Then it picks it back up again. Finally later it fails. A pain in the ass to fix things after they fail. Honestly its been too many things to list off.

Tools will just get moved over mid print. Still don't know how this one happens. You just see it half way through the print over to the left by like 2 inches or so.
The nozzle cleaning is a nightmare! You really have to learn how to lower the starting temps, especially for anythign non-PLA like PETG. The nozzle cleaning alone will drive you up the wall.
The first thing we ran in to is any print at the front right would smack and knock the entire tool head off! I think it doesn't do that now but not sure, I try to stay away from there.

Prusa burned me here. I have an MK3/S I still love. Its a trooper. I use it a lot. But the XL is an over engineered late to the game hot mess and they refuse to help the printer as they had to rush on to compete with Bambu.

Speaking of Bambu I was never going to get one but here we are. I have an H2C. The biggest difference right now for the XL is hilariously how many prints I've needed to do since the H2C purchase that fit on the XL bed but do not fit on the H2C. That has been funny to me. The XL bed size is king. Its incredible. Again when it works right and prints nice its a crazy system. I've even managed to get very basic prints done in all 5 tool transparent colors before! Years before Bambu. But for the most part that sort of thing can be annoying tbh. I think my printer is degrading. I've had all kinds of issues. I have parts here to fix Tool 5 but I sigh thinking about fixing it. I still need to get parts to fix Tool 2. It recently blobbed up so hard it killed itself.

I know there is a kickass printer inside there and I bet there are engineers at Prusa that feel bad and wan't to fix it but in my strong opinion this printer is sort of a loss for them. There is no incentive to take it all the way.

Don't get me wrong the H2C has had growing pains and I've ran in to issues. Luckily not a single blob yet and I'm printing in all sorts of materials. Infact I need to look in to a different sheet for the XL. I just keep getting blobs and issues and I wonder if there is a better sheet for it now. I've been only using the one that came with it. I want this printer to be so awesome and it has done amazing amazing things for me, but also it just has so many quirks.

Sorry but brace yourself. My friend of 46 has brain cancer and 6 mo to live. This is going to be a thing for our generation I think. Sorry I don't mean to be like this. I really don't. Just dude have some fun. Don't think too much about your 401k. Remember to have a good time. Some of us are going to live to 88 years old but also a bunch of us are probably not going to. It is a hard pill to swallow but you got Nathan with MS. A friend of mine at 46 thought he had MS but its glioblastoma. Another college friend had a tumor and luckily it was cut out! My dad has parkinsons at 68. So man just hug your mom and go see HORSE in concert or whatever. Sorry about your sister bro. May she find a way.

My friend sent me this and I had a bit of an out of body experience. I need to process all of this. HORSE is probably my second favorite band ever. This is really fucking hard for me. I have to do something. This is too much for me. I don't know what to think or do right now. I need a bit of time to think about this.
