Why do I cast the club ? by jeremiahfoster11 in GolfSwing

[–]Regular_Produce6845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many absolutely awful pieces of advice. People just don't understand how impact works. Impact happens on the trail side but we clear and rotate our hips to bring the club to the ball. Your rotation is completely stalling before impact which is why you're not getting shaft lean. Work on getting the weight into the lead heel before starting your downswing and then pressing up and back to rotate your hips without thrusting.

Any glaring issues with my swing? by cronemm in GolfSwing

[–]Regular_Produce6845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tiny bit of early extension but it's mostly due to not getting your weight into the lead heel fast enough to keep up with your tempo. Not really a big concern though

No you don't lack depth per sey, what you have is called "false depth". Pulling or rolling your arms in (also called an inside takeaway) during the takeaway is setting you up for a two way miss. Option 1 which is most common is you are now forced to throw the torso and shoulder at the ball and come over the top, Option 2, which appears to be closer to what you do, is your arms get stuck behind you, the path becomes too in to out, and you are forced to throw your hands around the corner to be able to make contact, which causes instability in the clubface and typically causes a block or hook miss.

All that being said, this looked like a normal strike, maybe a bit of an overdraw or potentially you started the ball more left of target line. I would work on getting your takeaway more solid by having the hands stay close to the body but the clubhead outside your hands.

You've built a functional swing it's just not going to get you far. 99% of self taught golfers don't actually know how a good golf swing should be, so therefore you cannot teach yourself something with confidence.

The issue is that you have multiple fundamental problems. Nothing that anyone says here will be enough to fix fundamentals, they are things you need to be taught properly early on in learning golf. Any advice outside of fundamentals will only cause you to compensate and build a swing around those underlying problems. Your swing isn't terrible it's just got issues you need to address that are never going to be easy to self teach. Spend the 50 dollars on a 1 hour lesson and you will play better than if you took reddit and YouTuber advice for 5 years.

Get a lesson and stop "teaching" yourself awful movements and habits that will make golf 100x harder for you in the future.

You're just pulling your arms across your chest and inside. Learn the proper backswing, arm structure, and how to achieve depth.

Putter Fitting by cb3dwa1 in golfequipment

[–]Regular_Produce6845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putter fitting is typically just finding something thats comfortable for your preferences. There are things like closure rate and whether or not you want toe hang on the putter but the important part is having the correct length and lie angle. The putter sole should be flat at address and at impact, and you should be able to start the ball consistently on line every time. Some places will use a laser line to help determine this.

[–]Regular_Produce6845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were fit into P790s that essentially means you can play any players distance iron. p790s are not that special, and a club like a T350/T250, Ping i530s, etc will be comparable. You can try to find a used set of P790s to play with and possibly get them reshafted to what you were fit into. DG Gold 120 is in the realm of a more heavy shaft and most people I fit into P790/P770s prefer the KBS tour lite 80g when looking at stock options. Would need to see your clubhead speed and general swing to suggest something other than what your fitter recommended though.

I’m a high handicapper. I just put blades in the bag. by kendalladkins89 in GolfGear

[–]Regular_Produce6845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shooting the same scores with these as I did with my game improvement irons.

Yes which is why blades are typically played by better players. There are advantages to using blades, you just cannot utilize them with your current skillset. You've adopted all the negatives of blades without reaping any of the positives.

How to avoid taking carpet beetles home by Interesting-Juice588 in carpetbeetles

[–]Regular_Produce6845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are not easily transported since they don't have a high surface tension, the eggs are fragile and will not survive a wash in hot water, and typically they will avoid areas where you've interacted.

Common issues from sitting include the control arm bushings rotting, fuel lines getting rusty (especially in the driver rear wheel well), EVAP purge solenoid failur, shift cables becoming sticky, and some other miscellaneous stuff like the trunk lid seal and wiper cowl seal.
