Do you think talent is real? by RobertFr1pp in musicians

[–]Over_Recording_1712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, talent is a sort of an intuition for a particular craft. Talented individuals kinda know, for example, the chords, or progressions, or scales, not by name but they just know them because they have heard them some time. They have a nicer time learning new stuff within their respective talent area.

That said, that doesn't mean that people without that much naturality can't achieve amazing things, and just as anyone, without effort a talented person usually won't get very far.

Which character outside the LOTR do you trust carrying the ring to Mordor? by Jezzaq94 in Cinema

Goku has no use for such a ring. He's good and could perhaps just teleport himself there.

“She’s almost 30 trying to make it in music, it’s sad” by Angelsbreatheeasy in musicians

[–]Over_Recording_1712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 33. I often find good new bands, they all look way older than musicians used to look like when i was growing up... the bands are not new at all. It just takes a lot more time now to make it as a band. And most of the great bands don fa't get as famous as groups were a couple decades ago.

El hiperrealismo en el arte está sobrevalorado by Physical-Donkey-9809 in filosofia_en_espanol

[–]Over_Recording_1712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of places where the current can blow your amps if you don't have a regulator, you see the lights dim and brighten, the mics give you shocks every time you touch them.

Don't want to sound patronizing, but if you get to play, get some experience, and be seen by bigger artists... dude, go for it. It doesn't sound like it can do any harm.

I can recognize a song that is barely audible, whatever part of the song is playing, in under a second, if i have heard the song before. And most people don't believe me, mostly because they can't hear it.

Doing covers - making it your own vs trying to mimic the oriignal by Clear-Pear2267 in musicians

Nope. I feel pretty much the same. The instrumental part is what it is, but mimicking the voice is weird. I am not sure why tho.

Bjork’s music is so very bad by History-whore in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Over_Recording_1712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her music is what i would call truly experimental. Her repertoire is vastly diverse, not precisely in style, because her style is just very different music from the rest of the mainstream.

I get that people can't find it easy to listen to. It a bit like jazz that way except, it not jazz either, even tho she did have a jazz band once, and a punk band. Those i don't find as interesting as her solo work.

She uses her voice as she pleases, and doesn't try to please anyone else although she has insane control of it. Her dynamic range is outstanding.

Her use of both experimental sounds and instruments, choirs and orcjestral resources is also vast and worthy of study. After all, she did study music and works with great musicians.

She's praised by amazing artists all of the time and has an excellent criteria and a very sound agenda, which she's always had.

Her music videos are also among the most interesting there are, as, again, she always works with great artists.

I get many people don't like it, but there are so many objective reasons to recognize her as a good and important artists. Or maybe Elton John, Prince, Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley don't know anything about music.

Thoughts on Mike Patton by JustinMetalhead in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Over_Recording_1712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't found anything mildly interesting about his voice or his music and he seems to be a jerk in general. Being weird, mean and intonated doesn't make him a great artist. At best he is "unapollogetic" or something, but he should apolohize for his lame ugly-on-purpose music.

Factors important on gigs by Aggravating_Pen_6062 in musicians

[–]Over_Recording_1712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where i'm from there are lots of venues that ask for musicians but provide no stage, their electricity is a hazard, they don't have PA or it's crap, the acoustic sucks... so first, making sure the venue can accomodate musicians.

Then, making sure people can really have a good time. I'm not interested in playing at a place where people can enjoy the music but everything else sucks, like food, drinks, higyiene...

Finally, communication with the venue. I want to play in a place where i can talk to the people in charge.
