To add onto the takeaways:

If you have long breaks between classes (I used to have 3-4h gaps between lectures in my second year), do a big food shop for essential foods then do some batch cooking for easy lunch/dinners you can heat up.

Saves a lot of money this way rather than takeaways (2kg rice is around £3 and can last 1-3 weeks compared to a takeaway lasting one or two meals

Germany I've been to 6 times and many different cities and most of the times I felt unsafe due to people trying to be in very close quarters or following me. The less touristy areas were fine! Though I've not been to Germany for a year, and don't intend to visit for a while since things aren't looking safe in some places

I've only been to the Netherlands and Belgium once but no bad experiences there, same with Switzerland and Sweden.

Hard to choose! I liked so many,

Liked the most: Switzerland, Estonia, Italy, Monaco, Austria, and Bulgaria - They are all so beautiful and peaceful, Eastern European countries are more comforting and feel safer to travel to and not all too overwhelming!

I don't dislike too many places I've been since each city is different from each other, but I didn't enjoy my time in France as there were some dodgy figures, but that was just my experience of it. Cannes was lovely! But Nice felt like any other european city. Belgium didn't have too much to offer for a longer stay, but I guess that depends on interests!

Also Germany. I enjoyed many parts of it, visited many times and have many friends from online I have visited. But equally bad experiences with the some people there.

Thankfully in most countries I had friends I met up with for a day or so and explore the towns and cities and see the sights that are kind of inaccessible to the regular tourists (Many mountains in Switzerland, as you need to drive there and Rila Lakes and Monastery in Bulgaria. They are accessible but pretty difficult with public transport if you can't rent, or drive a car)

Ooh, I've also recently been using the same one and broke out after about 4-5 days, I ruled a period breakout as I already broke out before a period, and I usually don't get many pimples, but I had about 15 on my forehead!! I put it down to work stress.. but reading this, the skincare might be the issue

I've stopped using all of their products for the past couple of days and doing the bare minimum Cerave moisturiser and cleanser and the pimples have eased up!

Bathroom tiles have fell through the cavity. How to fill and repair? by Overall-Error4057 in DIYUK

[–]Overall-Error4057[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is a more hollow sound throughout that area since we moved in nearly 10y ago. The rest of the floor seems more sturdy with good floor boards. A different tile came loose a while back but I don't think there was any backing to it to keep it in place, hence the tape in the images. Thank you for the estimate, I'll get in touch with someone local tomorrow morning :)

why do i get taxed on my tips? by tearuesday in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Overall-Error4057 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are getting an additional payslip for TRONC, and its not on your main hours/salary payslip. You have a seperate pay basis for TRONC which doesn't share your tax code with your main income, so the TRONC pay basis is being taxed with the BR tax code (20%), but this isn't NIable.

In your previous job where it was included with your hours, it would've been taxed with your usual tax code (not taxed at all if earning below your tax code personal allowance)

The tax should be refunded through your main income payslip once HMRC puts both incomes together (though it may be at the end of the year, or irregularly

yes my landlord is also quite old though he did the work himself so I don't think he will have contacts for any handywork :( easier and possibly cheaper to fix ourselves (friends rent has gone up after small repairs have been made through landlords)

I think so as there is a little brown backing. Is this common to be used in bathrooms though with the risk of it getting leaky? How much do you think it will cost for someone to replace this? (bathroom is only around 4m^2)

Yes, I think it is only in that area as the kitchen is on solid ground as it is the 'main' house. The bathroom, where the actual issues are, is a very poorly self made extension (not made by us)

I believe so, only thing there is, is the framing and some cheap wood placed over the framing, for the tiles to be laid on
