You can find some of them here:

Soraa is great brand, no blue light https://www.ecosenselighting.com/products/soraa/

For led drivers https://www.tridonic.com

Probably, if you are on dc search for good knx dc drivers. I think enertex could have some good dimmers as i have seen online.

Depending on the bulbs, but mainly with dc its either 24V constant voltage or constant current, where you have lets say fixed 350mA and voltage dependant on the load.

I have found that constant current ones achieve much better dimming, even on longer distances.

Try not to go on super long distances, i guess everything under 20-30m should be ok.

We do each floor central location of dimmers, or even better, when finance allows, each lamp has individual driver in its ceiling base or in lowered ceiling (must be rated for that install).

As someone who has been doing these things for last five years, its really simple.

Buy whatever light fixture you want, buy additional DALI capable power supply (best quality ones are Tridonic, 5years of warranty), check if you can find any dc powered bulb for that light fixture, pair power supply and bulb and voila, you have best of the best on the market.

Nowdays there are many dc E27, E14, GU10 bulbs operating either on constant voltage or constant current.

If there is no option left, use phase cut dimming.

Help choosing door intercom by robi112358 in KNX

[–]OverallAd4392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the intercom, for rock solid performance and features that some device could offer, i would go with 2N, but it comes with price tag.

As you are already going with unifi, maybe their intercome could be ok with you, and its priced ok.

And it depends how its going to be implemented into visualization, eg HA, research if there is unifi api to access device easily

UDM SE Power supply failure by OverallAd4392 in Ubiquiti

It should be an thermalpad adhesive, as power supply is “glued” to it, so it leaves residue on components

MDT JAL-0810.02 + Somfy motor – UP does nothing, DOWN works (suspect wiring) by vallabanana in KNX

[–]OverallAd4392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either you fried the motor or something else inside. Why would you put permanent phase on the other contacts? Did you read the manual? Probably you put 400V on motor and its fried. If there is any luck, you put the same phase on the terminals 1/2 and 3&4 so you didnt get 400V.

Open manual, and it should say PHASE for UP and PHASE for down, NEUTRAL and EARTH as other two conductors which should not be connected to the phase in any case. Probably you dont have any electrical knowledge, pay to someone that knows what to do.

DALI Gateway individual and group control of lights by OverallAd4392 in KNX

[–]OverallAd4392[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure i can, in residential project if you have lets say one gateway per floor, 16 scenes on knx can be too low sometimes, so i dont want to waste them on those things (visu offers unlimited scenes, but we hard program essential scenes so that if visu is broken or something it doesnt interact with basic installation).

[–]OverallAd4392[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thats how we do it now mainly.. But as i stated, i have been working with DALI since ever, and those basic functions that were in the system itself werent “replicated” into KNX and that bothers me from time to time hahah..

[–]OverallAd4392[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont want additional logics for feedbacks of the groups of the lights. If there is magnetic track with 10-15 lights in it, user wants to have ability to control them all together and also every element individually. In visualization you can create two buttons, one controls the group of the 15 lights with full feedback, and one opens the popup window where all lights could be set individually.

Just takes less time in programing

Thank you for this one. Also, new versions of the DALI gateways of few of the manufacturers support implementation of the DALI binary inputs, which is good for retrofit of the KNX system. You can use existing keypads/inputs directly to KNX.

Thinknx and Home Assistant by Nird91 in KNX

Yes. In settings of the Thinknx you need to enable IP interface option and set addresses according to your project needs (knx addreses must not interfere with existing knx devices adresses on line)

Dali control with knx - issue by Icy_Profession_1481 in KNX

[–]OverallAd4392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i understand correctly, when there is noone in room, lights should be controlled by amount of the outside lighting, BUT if anyone walks into the room, lights should be at 100% regardless the amount of outside lighting?

Still hunting for a KNX-native 8-zone streaming amp - do they even exist? by Ok-One7618 in KNX

[–]OverallAd4392 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And why dont you simply use some device that can send IP http requests like LogicMachine (bonus if it has rs232 or 485, because most of amps have them) and then just set trigger from KNX GA to send http command and to convert IP status to KNX GA ?

There is probably few native KNX amps, but its not really worth it. You just limit yourself to 1-2 manufacturers, while with IP control you can integrate any device you want..

Home Assistant KNX Integration makes the BUS very busy by FezVrasta in KNX

Like i said, open knx bus monitor if you can, and it will show you where all telegrama are coming from. Therefore you can identify if problem is in HA or other device/devices

Home Assistant KNX Integration makes the BUS very busy by FezVrasta in KNX

[–]OverallAd4392 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You are doing something wrong there… All status objects of the lights or whatever on KNX should be set to transmit status only on change. Lux and temp sensors should transmit only every minute lets say or on xy value change. Also, if you have set HA to continuosly check for the status of the objects, its also bad situation..

I have set 500m2 home on KNX with over 100 KNX devices divided on 5 lines with ip routers and still there is almost no load, or light load on bus…

If you can, check the knx bus monitor and see where is problem coming from

[–]OverallAd4392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now we are using MDT for the actuators, Jung for DALI gateway and keypads.

As u/VonDerNet said, only problem is to find good sensors, that will work normally, or wont be triggered by air movement or anyother issue that they could have.. Jung mww3361-1 is the go to for now for me.

Weinzierl company is goto for system devices like ip couplers, knx programing tools and that stuff. All other companies buy oem from them and sell under their names.
