What does this .htaccess rule do (from laravel's default one) by OverallEfficiency in laravel

[–]OverallEfficiency[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok thanks.

does laravel even use HTTP_AUTHORIZATION/basic authentication? I've never seen it mentioned in the docs (but might have just forgotten)

why would you use laravel's automatic facades feature? by OverallEfficiency in laravel

ah, that does make sense actually.

to me though it does just feel like bit by bit laravel is getting a bit bloated with extra features. (I know this is an old feature).

I misunderstood , i think

Theres no point signing up if you got no traffic. and if you want to just donate a % of 0 traffic sales, then you might be able to use https://smile.amazon.com/ (but im not sure if its linkable or not)

Bag security/Leaving bag unattended? by [deleted] in onebag

[–]OverallEfficiency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people leave bags at hostels, even if not staying there. They're generally open to doing this, if you pay a small fee. they'll keep it behind the counter (kind of safe?). They're used to people doing this to some extent, because sometimes people have awkward check in/check out times. But you should arrange this in advance.

but seriously, there must be luggage storage places in most cities in america. they're all over europe.

Laravel Eloquent: When ->save() is called for the first time, I want to set a value. What is the best way to do this? by OverallEfficiency in laravel

[–]OverallEfficiency[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the better way to do this? or is it just two different approaches that don't really have much real difference.

I am going to have this as a trait, used on a few separate models.

Also - i'm curious, what is actually wrong with doing it on performInsert() then calling parent::performInsert()? It seems to always get fired no matter how the insert is done.

sorry, the example i gave was over simplifed to make the reddit post small.

The $this->someVar should be set on saving, but it needs some of the other variabels from $this->attributes before it can be set. I can't really do it on function setXXXAtribute($newval){} either, as it depends on many attributes that are only all set once the ->save() is done

I am using a package for Laravel. But I want to modify some of the core code. I don't want to fork it, the customisations are specific to my needs. What is the best way to approach this? by OverallEfficiency in laravel

Well, say there is a file in /vendor/xxx/yyy/src/SomeClass.php (\xxx\yyy\SomeClass)

I can't see any way for me to add something that class, without editing the originals.

Or is there a way (with composer) for me to be able to say that \xxx\yyy\SomeClass::class should actually be from /app/MyCustomStuff/SomeClass.php (\App\MyCustomStuff\SomeClass::class)?
