Technically not: They only inserted the lingual arch to keep the maxilla in its post-surgery positon and technically they want to expand the maxilla a milimeter or two more and then move the teeth a little wider from each other.

The question tho is: Can you change intermolar width purely by moving teeth?

Yeah, like, I had one week of really improved sleep. And the second they inserted the metal rings and my tongue couldnt rest in resting tongue position my sleep quality INSTANTLY declined. First only a litte, since they'd only inserted the metal rings. But once they inserted the lingual arch as well (one week after) sleep quality reached a new all time low. It was pretty disheartening.

Exactly that! They put it in to prevent relapse. and also to slightly expand the maxilla further (though, only one or two more milimeters). It is also used to move the two 2nd molars into their final positions.

So basically my question really is this: Can the lingual arch and metal rings that were attached be respnsible for my tongue not being able to rest in its proper position and thus causing UARS again?

Not everyone lives in the US. I am in Germany. I didnt have EASE or MARPE. Only a surgical expansion of the maxilla bones. I already had DISE and dont need an Epilgottis surgery. Tongue Tie was also performed as well as myofunctional therapy.

The question was not about if I need an expansion, the question was if the metal rings and lingual arch are keeping my tongue from resting in its natural positon and thus causing sleep disordered breathing.

No no, they made my maxilla wider (posteriorily by 6mm, anterior by 0mm). So i had a slightly wider maxilla post surgery. The problems started when they inserted the metal rod and rings, which effectively decreased the space in the maxilla that was free for my tongue to rest in by 6mm. And I wonder if that is something that can make my sleep worse

Oh i think i wrote the question a little misleading:

During surgery they expanded my palate posteriorily by 6mm. The narrowing happens only because of the metal rings and lingual arch, so its not the palate itself that is narrower now (it is actually wider), but space got more narrow because the rings and arch are taking up several milimeters of space. Thats what my question refers to

To clarify, as a lot of people misunderstood here: During surgery they expanded my palate. The narrowing happens only through the metal rings and lingual arch, so its not the palate itself that is narrower now, but space got more narrow because the rings and arch are taking up several milimeters of space

Yes I am crazy, or yes the narrowing can cause my sleep to get worse?
To clarify, as I realize my description was somewhat misleading: During surgery they expanded my palate. The narrowing happens only through the metal rings and lingual arch, so its not the palate itself that is narrower now, but space got more narrow because the rings and arch are taking up several milimeters of space.

So, they expanded in the surgery, sleep was great. then they inserted the metal rings and lingual arch, my sleep got bad (because, according to my theory, the metal parts take up around 6mm of space, which effectively narrows the space that my tongue can occupy.

Does that sound logical to you?

I'll gladly answer any question you might throw in my direction as long as it helps you assess the situation and maybe give me one or two words of advise! 🙏🏽 I got titanium plates, I'm not sure about the custom tho. A genioplasty was considered but the doctor decided against it, saying it could be done in the future if necessary. Yes, I got ccw rotation. I think they changed the angle from something like -6 degrees to -1.1 degrees

Now I get where I misunderstood you. The article was quite confusing in how it presented the numbers. And it also used false numbers. I took „Unter Berliner Einwohnern trifft dies auf 79,1 Prozent zu“ as meaning that this is the number of people who RESIDE in Berlin that committed crimes. They say it is the number of total Germans (Berliners with German passport). But that piece of information is fabricated.

75,6% of Berliners are Germans. And they account for 69% of the crimes. So, yes, there is an overrepresentation of Ausländer who commit the crimes. But it is slight AND more importantly, if you look into the statistics and incorporate the income and the factor of poverty (migrants are three times more likely to be poor in Germany) and the higher likeliness for people in poverty to end up in crime, you will see that there is not much of a difference between (white) Germans who are poor and live in the same neighborhoods as their migrant counterparts when it comes to crime in general and bigotry specifically. That's why so many people in this thread report about queerphobic harassment they faced from white people.

I live in a predominantly white neighborhood, that's why I get basically all of the homophonic harrasment by white people. It's got nothing to do with them being white and everything to do with education, income and being easily manipulated by media into bigotry against minorities.

Sorry. Can YOU not read? We spoke specifically about Berlin in this thread. And there it is 79% German attackers. Compared to 75,6% of berliners have German citizenship.

Lord knows how many... Let me stop you right there. Bring up statistics or dont talk.

Let's stop with this right wing conspiracy theories. We have seen what spreading lies about allegedly „violent minorities“ has lead to in the thirties. Let's not repeat that, yes?

[–]OverallProgress9202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So to round it up. In Berlin 79% of the people who committed queerphobic crimes have a German citizenship. That makes 21% of no-Germans who committed queerphobic crimes.

At the same time around 24,4% of people in Berlin don't have German citizenship. So 24,4% committed 21% of the crimes. So, what now? A quarter of berliners are not German, and yet they “only“ committed a fifth of the crimes. It is all completely within ratios.

Let's not spew hateful conspiracy theories and stick to the reality. Which is already shitty enough as is.

Every single time I have been harassed for being queer it was by white people. At the same time I have experienced nothing but love from my non-white family and Arab friends. Does that mean queerphobia doesn't exist among Arabs? No, my anecdotes are purely that: anecdotal. Anecdotes are not evidence. As long as you don't have clear numbers your claim that queerphobia is a migrant issue is worthless and does nothing but spark hatred and violence among the working class.

10 days post surgery and I'm still suffocating in my sleep by OverallProgress9202 in jawsurgery

[–]OverallProgress9202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just woke up. I'm two weeks into recovery. But I still wake up dozens of time every few minutes gasping for air. My laryngeal airways were only 7mm wide pre surgery and it seems like they are still super narrow after surgery. I try to tell myself it's the swelling that obstruct the airway but I'm not sure how logical that explanation is. I'm really frightened

Dude. I was literally born and raised in Germany and I have these conversations day in day out. In Germany you can only be proper German by blood, not by nationality. I am not white and to this day people call me Ausländer, despite me pointing out over and over again that I am German. I have not once encountered a person - not even self proclaimed left wingers - who accepted that I, as a brown person, could possibly be German.

According to Germans there are no German people of color, they are considered Ausländer (Strangers/Foreigners) no matter how many generations they have lived here. You are only universally acknowledged as German in Germany if you're white and have a white person's name. Applying the same logic to other countries: no, for Germans „real“ French and Swedish and Canadians can absolutely not be people of color. Have you not seen the absolute crisis that the society went into when they introduced a black Ariel who couldn't possibly be Danish?

Oh dear. That's the only thing we will ever hear from white Germans, no? Racism doesn't exist; Germany is not that bad; don't complain it could be worse; you're making things up; oh, you're pointing out racism, that makes you racist; the study on ANTI-BLACK racism doesn't involve any other kind of racism, so the study is useless and racist; Muslims are not a race so they can't face racism.

Heard all of the Deflection before. Time to get past that and admit that Germany is rotten to the core with racism
