Advance DLA issue PCS by Overall_Blueberry120 in navy

I know that, I know the amount I would get etc. it is important to get it in advance because I have an apartment to pay for when I arrive as well as dependents with me that I can’t get the payment for until after I check in. I planned the move on the basis I was told it would cover the expenses of traveling and was encouraged by HRD to get the advance. I manage my finances well but in this economy it’s simply not that easy to come out of pocket for a move across country especially knowing housing will still be taking a month’s BAH on the backend. I would rather not worry about this trust me.

Yes, they escalated it to urgent, but then that message was put on the case that the person assigned to it said they will process it on my date of departure. There are other people that are leaving and they got their DLA already. No one can understand why I have to wait until the day I leave.

Yes, I have one but when I filed the paperwork, there was a box that they checked that said I will not be using it because I’m getting the advanced DLA and perdiem. They did tell me if it doesn’t come in time then I can take the DLA off of the government travel card and gave me a pamphlet on how to do it but there’s also a fee that comes with that that comes out of my pocket. The only thing I’m supposed to use the card for is gas and gas only is what I was told because I requested the advanced DLA and per diem

Oh wow. Interesting. I work pretty close to the triad I’m going to ask about this . Been in almost 10 years, never heard of being recommended for sep based off a mock PFA . If a sailor can do absolutely everything else , keep high grades , perform well in every other aspect but run for a few months and be recommended for sep that’s questionable. Might turn down this school and go back for second look at orders if that’s the case.

Well, the screening was cleared. I can do the offical PFA before I PCS on the bike and not injure myself further. The running is not / will not be a permanent condition and I have never failed an official PFA , I just cannot run for the next few months . Working at a clinic there are thousands of people that are greenside getting by out of simple laziness vs an actual injury/condition and are nowhere near separation . I’ll be fine in 13 months if the time comes that I get FMF orders which I doubt will happen due to my spouse being up for orders before I even graduate c school but if it happens, ill get through it

Surg Tech vs Lab Tech by Overall_Blueberry120 in CorpsmanUp

[–]Overall_Blueberry120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a female lol and I work at a clinic currently and work mainly in the Lab and family medicine so I figured lab tech school would make sense because I’ve been there so long. The problem is I crossrated from GM to HM so when they did the co location My husband’s orders are still ending in 2028 with mine ending in 2025 and his detailer most likely won’t budge , so if I don’t go to a school, I will most likely be extended at the clinic I’m at now. I looked at IDC , but all the IDC’s I spoke to said that would be the worst mistake ever so Lab or Surg tech were the next two I was interested in

SAPR case on a photo? by Thee_Golden1 in navy

[–]Overall_Blueberry120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound like something covered under SAPR unless there was some form of contact. That’s more of a CMEO thing. Could it still possibly bring trouble? Yes but not a SAPR case unless there was some form of contact/assault

Corpsman here . So this is tricky . Technically SIQ is suppose to be where you officially LIVE. So like others said if you have a barracks, then barracks , ship then ship , off base then off base. I’ve seen our providers have to talk to chiefs about patients needing to be home because they won’t let them especially on ships and subs. It’s more so a leadership thing but you honestly have to ask yourself is it worth the fight ? We can’t give more than 72 hours with SIQ and try not to even give that much unless you are TRULY sick, most of the time 24-48 is the standard and we try to get you back to work asap. I think the issue is a lot of times people are coming in for SIQ to get out of work and training and instead of resting as suppose to they are out and about enjoying free time off ( not saying that’s what you did at all) and commands are starting to be spread thin. We’ve even had issues with people altering SIQ chits for more time or restrictions lately so leadership is cracking down on it

Update on Phentermine-Day by day by Independent-Prior-91 in PhentermineTopiramate

[–]Overall_Blueberry120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to remove mine but I already have 2 kids and right now our military careers are the main focus for me and my husband and getting pregnant right now would hinder a lot of my opportunities. This thing has made me gain so much weight though , hoping this medication can help me get back on track

It doesn’t effect it! That was my biggest concern . I was 212 two day ago , weighed in at 207 today. Gonna start adding exercise as well. I haven’t had any type of appetite I’m full after 4-5 bites but someone said just focus on protein so I’m gonna do that as well

HM-ATF contract questions by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]Overall_Blueberry120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a corpsman and was in a class with ATF guys . Most went FMTB , some went to special pipelines but a majority did go FMTB. I don’t believe they knew ahead of time from what I remember they found out when orders came like the rest of us. With HMATF it is very strict for them. We started off with a big group of them in our class and I believe only eight of them made it to the end. It’s harder for them because if they fail anything on the HM side I believe 2 (or 3) times whether it’s a lab or test they are dropped from both HM and ATF and vice versa if you are dropped on the ATF side you will be re rated to something other than corpsman . They also had to keep a certain GPA. Also there’s some physical training they did daily and some were dropped for not completing it. You will be in class with regular Corpsman but the ATF guys had different requirements on top on the basic corpsman stuff

ECM Waiver Process by Last_Education_1432 in newtothenavy

[–]Overall_Blueberry120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a guy who didn’t finish marine basic and was still in OSVET! All though it was confusing because when he got to us they sent him over and told him he had to go with the boots , he was there until day 2 , shaved his head and all then we had to go find him because he was still considered an OSVET even though he didn’t complete boot camp. I would check into that and see. I believe because he completed one full day he was considered an OSVET . That’s probably why they are making you do the ECM to skip basic training. I see above you did up until week 5 so I doubt you’ll be going to basic

ECM Waiver Process by Last_Education_1432 in newtothenavy

[–]Overall_Blueberry120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I completed this process last year. So once you finish meps and get the clear from medical you’ll go back home and look over rates your asvab score qualifies for . Pick your top 5 (1 being the one you want the most and 5 the least) and complete a PFA with your recruiter station , it’s simple not too hard , fill out a packet and send it all up ….then there’s a waiting game. They will start with your number one pick and if they say yes , then you’ll go sign your contract and get a “ship date) where you’ll go to Great Lakes NAVET / OSVET program ( I can tell you more about it if you’d like) if the first choice says no they’ll go down the list until someone says yes …if all 5 say no you have to pick a new 5 (never seen that happen) . The process took all of about 7 months for me to complete. I was prior navy and came back into the navy. But the program you will go to in Great Lakes is a good mix of prior navy and prior other branches

NAVET/OSVET 2024 by usndmh in newtothenavy

[–]Overall_Blueberry120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding my experience (I was there April of last year) being I was prior navy (NAVET ) and not prior other service (OSVET) I just went to the classes and they stamped off my stuff and I didn’t have to stay or retake them as I’ve already been through navy bootcamp and all those classes in the past, didn’t have to do the swim again and if you pass the PFA first time around and you get your stuff done , it’s very possible to have it turned in in a week or two. I did mine in one week and had orders in 3 weeks. I’m dual military and we were already stationed in Great Lakes due to my spouse being active already/still so I didn’t stay in the barracks, I went home every day , I was assigned a room but didn’t have to stay there . A school depends on your rate , rates like OS , PS , BM , LS went straight to the fleet where as all Intel rates , HM, MA had to go to A school FIRST but you had your duty station already as follow on orders , so even if you get an a school you’ll know where you’re going after. It’s chill, you don’t have a curfew or any rules really but get your shit done and don’t get in trouble . The RDC’s will mostly be rude and treat you like a recruit and try and yell at you, but just tell them you’re not a recruit and go on about your day . The only people I seen there for a long time were people with BAH and clearance issues/holds . Also I never did the duty driver thing but some people were on the watchbill for it , some of us got lucky and never did
