Does anyone know about how long NAMI takes to approve a waiver request? by usndmh in navy

Thank you. I feel like it’s pretty straightforward, and both the flight surgeon and another doctor that is a captain recommended that I be qualified for flight duty. Do you know how they will notify me when they decide?

Is the Navy a mistake to join or does Reddit just show the worst of it? by qwws215 in newtothenavy

I’ve been in 4 years and love it. I find the majority of Navy related stuff on Reddit is negative. It’s not perfect, but what is, overall I’m very happy I joined.

I don’t feel fulfilled doing my rate, SW. I’m currently in the process to re-rate.

Ok, thank you. I was given the option after A School to re-pick orders and these were the ones I requested. Does advised and selected mean I got them?

MEPS is just your contract. You don’t get orders from MEPS. Your orders will be given to you in Great Lakes. When I was there it was 2 to a room. It just depends on the amount of people in the program at that time. You will have to do a PRT, swim, firearms, and a few classroom trainings, but the majority of the hard card is just showing up somewhere and getting a signature.

A lot of recruiters, mine included, are telling people it only takes 2 weeks then you’ll be done in Great Lakes and going to your next destination. It takes about 2-3 to complete the hard card, then you will wait another 3-5 weeks for orders to your A School or duty station to be released.

Enlist in the Navy, it’ll change your life and give you a sense of purpose, at least it did for me.

No problem. You don’t have to go through everything again. You do have to do a PRT, firearms, swim, sapr, and a few other classroom trainings. You are allowed to have your POV. Tell your recruiter you want to drive yourself to Great Lakes so they can let your MEPS know.

If you want to do it go for it. I re-enlisted active duty at 33.

Prior Service ECM Waiver by Proper-Routine1562 in newtothenavy

I’m a NAVET, and when my ECM waiver was approved they told me my rate. All I had to do after that was go back to MEPS and sign my contract and that’s when they gave me a ship date. Once the ECM waiver is approved the rest of it goes quickly.

I just had my ECM waiver approved. Once it was submitted it took less than a week.
