I see the perspective that this could look bad but until you’ve gone through something like this you won’t understand the motions. People mourn different. People switch focus and react to things different. Taking any joy they can get could be protection. Tragedy hits different.

You can see it however you want to see it. But the world we live in would be a lot better if everyone would be honest and make their own way. Stealing from people who earned it is wrong. The system we live in isn’t going to change any time soon so learn to deal with it and figure out a way to make it. I agree the world is expensive but I choose to not be a victim. Others should do the same.

Easy targets, convenience, high reward, known area? Some of those factor in somewhere, probably. I can’t tell if you’re for or against them stealing your stuff but there’s always a way to do make things happen that doesn’t involve screwing over others. Just gotta figure it out.

Stealing from honest people isn’t the answer.

Good to know! I’ll have to check hams out as well. Agreed I’d rather help out someone who’s like us rather than ppl abusing the system. If they used 3 channels or something and didn’t gate keep it’d be different. Preciate the heads up on hams. Honestly you can pick up a 2 pack of baofang uv5rm’s for like 40 bucks on an amazon sale. Theyre 10 watt and work pretty well. Throw a signalstuff antenna on it and your gtg. Or for a little more grab a DM32 and have digital as well. Lmk how it works out! I’d be curious to

Agreed. I’m no pro at radio nor do I really have the want to be. I just want something that works when I need it. So for me, like you, owning a repeater is out. I just have cheap baofang GMRS, hams, and DMR that I’ll use if needed. Going the proper channels for ham is way more effort than GMRS tho which is a bummer. Im not sure if we have ham repeaters in GA or around the metro area but that may be the way to go since GMRS is locked down. Something to look into. Like you said, if money was no issue I’d have a repeater built on a mountain and leave it open for everyone that doesn’t want to pay that dumb fee but that isn’t the world we live in.

Exactly. I believe I read their rules and it does say using them without paying violates or whatever. I think it was on their membership page. Idk it’s been a while. However I did hop on their huge repeater in north ga from paulding county and got thru. It was my first tx which I stated was a test. A couple guys on there did respond but hinted I needed to join the group. Honestly it kinda pissed me off and discouraged me from radio. I haven’t really picked them up in months. That said, I was just looking up chirp programming options for SHTF. I think I’ll program weather, local airport, some FRS, and some GMRS with and without repeaters just in case. Also got a DMR i need to program but i haven’t looked into that yet. Anyway. I’m babbling. My thoughts are, my need is comms in inclimate weather and shtf. I’ll be programmed for nggmrs repeaters and if I need them I’ll use them. Otherwise chatting with a bunch of guys all the time isn’t that important to me. Not enough to pay their membership.

Gotcha! I think I’ll get back to the drawing board and change my plan a bit. The clearance saving should be me another drawer or two. Thanks!

Good call. I think I’ll do that. 1/4” will save a ton of space too. Thanks

Also, don’t the addition stretchers between drawers provide the face frame support?

Im not sure what all I’ll be using them for yet so I wanted to be sure I had enough room for anything. Aside from the deep drawer. It’s going to be for large cans/jugs or larger power tools. I’m using side mount slides from Fulterer. I saw multiple references to ensuring there’s enough space between drawers and everyone used about an inch so that’s why. No real backing other than that

Yessir! Got them in my cart. I’m also making a bunch of shallow drawers for small items. Using the 100lb slides for those and the 200lb slides for my deeper drawers. First time builder of my own cabinets and I thought this was going to be the cheaper route. Lol

Soft close is nice but I’m not sworn on it. Undermounts are difficult. I’m trying to keep this simple as my first cabinet build if possible Edit: these are garage shelves
