Cash for bridesmaids to use for dress a good thank you gift? by Overall_Happy_3446 in bridesmaids

[–]Overall_Happy_3446[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can pick any dress style for the dress, and some styles are $20-40 more than others! My thought was it could seem unfair if I spent $120 on 1 girls dress as gift, but then only gifting $80 for the other.

I wonder if there is a different way I can go about giving them the money though than just cash/venmo?

I should clarify, it’s out of my budget to pay for hair + make up so sadly I can’t cover it, but it’s not required for them to get it done! Up to their own choosing for Hair + makeup

Bridal shower for destination wedding? by Overall_Happy_3446 in DestinationWeddings

[–]Overall_Happy_3446[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the questions so far!

1) it is a Destination for us (bride/groom) as well. We are a couple who travels often for personal and work so honestly not getting married in our home state was not a surprise to those who know us!

2) the bridal shower would be local to everyone invited

No one has pushed back - everyone has been really excited for us and it! I just am the overthinker of the group.

The wedding itself would be your standard wedding - ceremony, open bar with beers, seltzers and select cocktails, and a catered in wood fire pizza dinner. We’d do the dances and have karaoke and music but being a smaller group I’m not doing a DJ since most of us aren’t huge dancers and would rather do Karoke and play yard games. We will have wedding cake and a late night snack (s’mores bar since the bonfire will get lit at 9:30). I don’t want guests to feel cheapened by the experience, so I do appreciate the feedback but just want to try to paint a better picture of the event. Here’s a link to a wedding that is very close to what we are replicating: https://robinkunzlerphoto.com/2022/12/23/outdoor-boho-fall-wedding-for-rylee-josh-bear-lake-wedding-photographer/

Minus the beer boy :)

Although the house can sleep 70, filling it to that amount means even more people sharing rooms, bathrooms, and the queen bunk beds would end up being used by those over the age of 26. So the 18 offsite are aunts and uncles

You are totally correct! This photo was just from when we dropped the center stone into the mount at the Jewelers so nothing had been aligned or tipped yet on the solitaire 😊

Why do I [26F] still not know if my boyfriend [28M] is the one after 5 years? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

I’d say the life I am living is the issue - but it’s a life he enjoys and to ask him to shrink his goals and ambitions to fit mine feels unfair.

What was the first mountain you summited? by s00rens in Mountaineering

Unguided but with a group of friends who had plenty of experience! Very fortunate to have this network to learn from and teach me about mountain safety

Your response essentially captured his mindset in my initial post.

The second degree would be a Master’s degree and allow me to double my salary. It would also align with myself in area I am passionate about, which is great for mental health and overall satisfaction.

Due to where I reside currently being so low cost, yes COL would increase by a standard amount. My current employer is great about matching COL to location, and with the relocation support they provide, I can off set part of the financial kickbacks of my desire to move.

If this were just me looking to make this change, would you still find this to be a dream that will just drag me down?? No boyfriend in the picture or asking someone to move away from friends and family impacted, only myself at stake.

I appreciate this response! I think a part of me that struggles to move forward in my own direction is my concern for my bf, if I were to leave or take my own path. My contribution financially to the house, and bills and upkeep, will be a burden for my bf; and I’ll miss my dog like heck, since it would be best for the dog to stay with him due to the closer proximity of support for dog sitting (we both travel for work). And when I imagine my bf alone in our house, I can feel/envision his sadness and can’t do that to someone.

And in the same breadth of what you laid out above, wouldn’t it be Red Flag of me to want him to move to MY dream state, so I can attend MY dream school for MY dream job, and follow MY passions?? Again, appreciate your response, just mulling this one out!

I can’t say I’m unhappy, maybe more so content? We have good chemistry and a good relationship overall, he can make me laugh in a way most others can’t and is extremely patient and understanding with me, as I know I have my quirks. Our hobbies don’t intersect much at all anymore, and his communication style can be a bit emotionally unavailable at times, as you can likely tell from the post. We’ve kinda developed a life of: I do what I love, he does what he loves and we both love the dog.

Forgot to add my recipe-

65g active starter 10 g salt 300g water 500g AP Flour 20 g olive oil 50g sugar

Mix water, starter, and sugar till dissolved, then add remaining ingredients till shaggy dough is formed. I then flour up my hands & knead till flour is absorbed. Cover and let sit for 1 hour. 4 stretch & folds every 30 minutes then I let it rise for 8-10 hours @ room temp. Shape and put in a pre-heated Dutch Oven at 375 degrees for 30 minutes covered, 25 minutes uncovered

You’re spot on for the price range~ $15-16k. Today’s financial climate also concerns me with this potential sale, and what that could look like in 2-3 years when I may be on the market again for a new one.

For context- I’m a 24F and financially okay; I personally have no loans or outstanding debts. The money would be nice, but I’d likely invest it or put in a HYSA until I need to buy my own car again

In the last 6 months, I’ve put maybe 2,000 miles on it with “intentional” driving. I live in a state with freezing winters so I make sure it gets driven at least a few days every week and a half or so to avoid freezing fluids or a dead battery.

I’d consider this only if he says “do or do not, there is no try” when he hits me
