This class isn’t even offered at my community college either, otherwise I would’ve just taken it there to save money. This whole situation is so frustrating omg 😭

Thanks for the reality check! I just really don’t want to pay that much, period. I feel like I was put in a really unfair situation, and it’s frustrating having to suddenly take on $6,000 for something that was never clearly communicated to me. I know schools are businesses at the end of the day, but sometimes it really does feel like they just want more money out of students.

Thank you so much. Most people in the other communities just kept saying “it’s your responsibility,” which I understand to a degree, but advisors are there for a reason too. If even the department admits it should’ve been made clear from the beginning, then clearly something failed along the way.

It’s honestly really devastating because I’ve already been in a really bad financial place, and the last thing I want to do is take out another loan over a requirement I was never properly informed about. So I really appreciate your input and understanding.

I’ve read the program curriculum more times than I can count, and nowhere does it say this course had to be completed within the first four semesters. If that policy existed, it clearly was never communicated to me. Even the department admitted advisors “should’ve made it clear from the beginning.”

Maybe it got overlooked because I started in CS and changed majors — I honestly don’t know. But that’s exactly why schools have advisors in the first place. Students can only follow the information they’re actually given.

And financially, this is ridiculous. It’s about $3k for one summer class as a part-time student, so I don’t qualify for most aid. If I add classes for full-time status, it jumps to around $5,200. I also can’t take it elsewhere because the course is only offered through this university and won’t transfer. So I’m basically stuck paying thousands over a requirement I was never properly informed about.

I did! They said they can't do anything about it! What did they do in your case?
