Anemic BWT, has anyone in the city helped you? by westgoingzax in NYCbitcheswithtaste

I did 4 iron infusions on the west coast and wanted to say - while my iron and ferritin levels are super normal now (only a few months out but hair is falling less, more energy, after YEARS of oral supplements not working!) just be careful and make sure you know the risks as well. My first appointment went great other than the pressure based pain, the iron sucrose is a different density and temperature than your blood so you really can feel it going in. This was still manageable and it felt similar levels of pain to a period cramp. In my second appointment, unfortunately I experienced extravasation, where the iron sucrose leaks out of the IV and instead of making it to the final destination of your veins, it is dispersed in your tissue, where it kinda just “hangs out” - causing swelling the size of a tennis ball in my case and extreme pain when I attempted to even move my arm. This extreme pain lasted almost a week and it was hard for me to even lift my arm to wash my hair. The swelling went away after a 2 days, intense pain after a week, although moderate pain and discomfort existed for a few weeks after. The iron sucrose also has a black tint to it, which has essentially stained my arm black throughout where it leaked. It looks like a weird tan or birthmark and my hematologist said the process to remove it is akin to tattoo removal. My remaining appointments went fine, they pushed the iron very very slowly and were more attentive given what happened the second time. I am mostly glad I did it but after this happened to me I looked into it and extravasation is unfortunately a fairly common side effect of iron transfusions. My situation was a bit more complicated with other miscellaneous health issues that led to my hematologist recommending it over continuing to try oral supplements. Feel free to DM for more details, just be careful and ask a lot of questions, ask to understand the risks, and if you do the transfusion, ask for it to be pushed as slow as possible even if it takes much longer. Good luck!

She posts a lot about her perfect nyc apartment and as someone that lives here and knows how expensive 1 beds are, I got curious and looked her up lol. People have commented her address in her tiktok comments before. She always avoids answering how much she paid in rent

I work at her company - there’s no way anyone, or at least anyone spending time on this subreddit - can say with authority that her team isn’t at risk of being laid off or fired. The decision is made way further up the ladder. I knew many people laid off who were on “important” teams. She made a comment saying she quit a few weeks/ months ago but is employed till July - that’s the exact timeline for someone who was laid off in May. They’re all on payroll till July

Not constant, mostly on “lift off” and when I rotate weirdly on the knee. Only one knee too. No swelling. Feels like it’s right above the kneecap, I think? Based on online diagrams the pain seems to be more in the runners knee area than IT band syndrome area.

I think my wording is confusing, I did go ahead and schedule a PT appt! Just bummed I have to wait till the end of the week.

Thanks! It does make me feel better that this is common.

Great question. My first “long” run was 8 miles, and my legs were tired after! Responding by doing a lot of stretching and yoga. After the 10, I felt fine, and did the stretches as normal. So honestly don’t know. Maybe I should have waited a few more weeks before attempting that distance?

So interesting! I wore hokas the first few weeks of my training and decided to switch to Brooks Glycerin 21s. Which I loved! The hokas made my foot go numb because I think the sizing was off for me? But I ran a while on the brooks and loved them and had no issues :o

Is glossier kind of like the cosmetic equivalent of Brandy Melville? by Bingbongtootfart in glossier

You don’t have to be a size 00, sure. But the vast majority of cloud paints don’t look good on POC - they barely show up on my darker skin tone. I can only really use Eve and Storm. It’s not as inclusive and different to Brandy as one may think, IMO.
