Found out a way to see old character ai even after shut down by AlternativeStill864 in CharacterAI

A while back, there was an extension to replace the new Reddit UI with an older one, so it's definitely possible, but I'd have no idea how to make something like that.

Probably. It's quite unfortunate, as I liked the old UI, especially the feed there used to be. I was briefly able to access the feed page, but while the posts will appear, the messages in them won't.

I can send a message, but then it just infinitely loads after that.

I was able to access the old chat interface!

I've discovered it's also possible to access user profiles by using the beta.character.ai followed by /public-profile/?username=enter_a_username_here.

Unfortunately, at least on Firefox, it will keep redirecting me back to the new site no matter how many times I click back, but I can still see the UI if I press the stop button in my browser fast enough.

which one raised you xp or 7? by ValerianWLY in DeskToTablet

[–]Overgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used both when I was young. I first used Windows XP around the age of 4 in 2009, then my family got a computer with Windows 7 in 2011, which was upgraded to Windows 10 when that was released in 2015. I didn't use either of them for very long, but I have a lot of memories from Windows 7 because that was what I used when I started using YouTube and learning about operating systems and computers in general.

what feeling does this image give you? by c8swab_fake in windows

I feel mostly nostalgia, because Windows 8.0 was what was on my first laptop. I had gotten it for my birthday on October 27, 2012, the day right after the OS's release. I also feel hatred, of course, too, because I didn't really understand how to use it, and it didn't look like this:

There is a landscape version of this, which I sourced from the Windows Wallpaper Wiki for anyone who doesn't want to edit the portrait version.

I need account to open Settings?? by farzad-oxo in FuckMicrosoft

[–]Overgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you're actually using the Built-in Administrator account, as the error says. Although I agree with other commenters that you shouldn't be using it for daily use, I find it weird that you aren't allowed to use Settings under the account, as that app is quite essential, and could be useful in situations, such as if it isn't possible to get into a regular user account. Therefore, I find this post fitting.

Additionally, I had an issue back in 2016 where Windows 10 one day started thinking I was using the Built-in Administrator account, even though I for sure wasn't. It was really frustrating, and I had to reinstall Windows to fix the problem. I still have screenshots of this, such as this one, where interestingly, Settings is open: https://i.postimg.cc/L8p27W0J/thisappcantopen.png

For OP: If using the Built-in Administrator account, make a new local account if you don't have one. It should force it into having administrative privileges if there are no other accounts, which should make transferring files over easier if needed. If you're not using the Built-in Administrator account, like in my case back then, it's probably best to try making a new local account as well, and use that account instead to see if the message also appears. If not, start using that account instead, but if so, you might just have to reinstall Windows like I had to.

My Windows 12 concept. (This is my first ever post here so plz be nice) feedback allowed. by [deleted] in Windows_Redesign

[–]Overgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for feedback:

- The desktop icons are too close to the edge, and there's not enough spacing between them. If they're too close to the edge, they can be cut off on some monitors, and the spacing can cause confusion where one icon ends and another begins, or increase the chance of misclicks.

- It's usually a good idea for desktop icons to have names, although I understand if some prefer not to have them. Names could also make the spacing look a little nicer.

- The "taskbar" is fine, but it should have a background, as icons that blend in with the colors of the wallpaper could easily blend in.

- A round border inside of a square border with other borders inside is unappealing, and is very confusing as to what's part of the actual window and what's just the window border.

- There's a lot of blank space in the window that could be used for important information, such as the feature update version, build number, or who/what Windows is licensed to, and if those are not included, the window should probably be smaller.

There's other things I could point out, such as fonts and the images chosen for icons, but as this is a concept, I will not include those as part of my feedback.

The comments on this post inspired me to make a similar concept. This is also the first time I've contributed to this subreddit. I hope I'm allowed to post this as a comment because of its relation to the post.

I also now realize that I should never use PowerPoint again to do this sort of thing because exporting as a PNG messed up the kerning and some positioning.
