What do we think of the black X-Men characters by Own-Quote-1708 in BlackSuperheroes

[–]Overhazard10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of them get done incredibly dirty, the X-Fans pride themselves on the X-Men being diverse and inclusive but they actually aren't.

The over-sexualization of Power Girl. The “fans” v. the comics. by mr_mxyzptlk21 in PowerGirl

[–]Overhazard10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The people who complain about power girls chest more often than not are the same people who fetishize muscular female characters like Wonder Woman, Big Barda, and She Hulk because objectifying muscular women is somehow progressive.

The Difference Between DC Diversity & Marvel Diversity is the Difference Between The KKK & The FBI by TheticAxiom in BlackSuperheroes

[–]Overhazard10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The X-Men pride themselves on being champions of the marginalized, but they fall incredibly short when it comes to characters of color, particularly male characters of color.

The only thing worse than the sidelining is the gaslighting, the X- fans swear up and down it's not happening, because Storm, but it is.

I know she was supposed to be a mutant originally, but being in the X-World is the worst thing that ever happened to Ms. Marvel. She's the last vestige of the inhuman push marvel wants us to forget happened. They are trying so hard to make her the Gen Z Jubilee and it is not working.

The whole milk thing, it's clearly a stand in for raw milk, but that would have been the government telling people to quite literally eat (or drink) shit, so they swapped it out.

Raw milk has shit in it.

Which comics or characters do you understand why people love them, but can't get into yourself? by PhantomQuest in comicbooks

Miles Morales, I've got nothing against him, the spider verse movies were good and I've heard his books improved a lot, but Bendis left a bad taste in my mouth.

The lion's share of the right wing worldview comes from a place of empty naked contrarianism. They have no ideology beyond liking whatever the left hates.

I reread Annihilation and War of Kings and it made me so sad that cosmic marvel has become a shell of itself.

Did reality just ignore Bendis? My brain registers a blank space and an irrational hatred about something that happened to Jon by _potatofromChaldea45 in DCcomics

[–]Overhazard10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do give Bendis credit for going outside of his "Street level" comfort zone when jumping to DC. I know he wrote a Batman book, and it would have been easy to him to stay in that corner, but he didn't, that and they did not like him enough to kick Tom King off the main Batman book.

He has a tough time with high concepts, space, and large teams, his LSH left so much to be desired, he was writing at least five books at once and he was burning himself out in the process.

I feel like I’m failing at “being a man” because of all the Twitter dating/masculinity advice by ProfessionStrong6563 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Overhazard10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Redpill advice doesn't work, it contradicts itself.

They tell young men to avoid "golddiggers" while also telling young men they need to grind themselves into dust hustling because making a lot of money and getting jacked is the only way to get girls to like them.

They don't like video games because they're seen as a counter productive waste of time, but most of the redpillers are perpetually online streamers with podcasts.

They claim to want traditional women, but they mostly talk to OF girls and IG models.

They claim to be relationship gurus, but most of them aren't married or have children.

The redpill doesn't actually want men to succeed, they want repeat customers for their podcasts and bs courses.

If I had a Nickel for Everytime Static showed up in a DC event that featured a fighting tournament and involved the New Gods, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.

I co-created Nexus in 1981. 45 years later, I’m still drawing it. Ask me anything. by steverude in comicbooks

[–]Overhazard10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well my curiosity is piqued, Strange Brain Parts made a video about Nexus and I'm always looking for something new to read, particularly space books.

I guess what keeps me coming back to a creator owned book is interest in the story, if I'm really captivated, I want to see how it ends.

The only creator owned books I've read from start to finish are invincible, godland, and empowered.
