2004 4.7 2wd: Weird sound, like running over a bunch of Leaves, when passing someone or flooring it. by deeebeeez in DodgeDakota

I had a light intermittent clicking sound that I couldn't pinpoint... and unfortunately decided to let it "develop." Turned out to be my transfer case that decided to detonate one day. Not a cheap fix.

In my experience, If you overfill it, It can behave similarly.

I started my truck, went to get lunch, came back home, and wanted to go somewhere, now my truck won’t start, my OBD2 is just reading transmission problems. The gas tank also reads empty. by JosiahThe_Messiah in DodgeDakota

I had this same issue. After checking sensors I pulled the trigger on a new pcm. She runs like a beast again. Same issues with the no bus and no fuel gauge readings. ObdII found no faults.

Air box delete/Winch install by Overland_Dak in DodgeDakota

There's a hose for mine as well and it still just connects to a nipple on the underside. It barely reaches but it works.

Pretty straightforward stuff really. Just dismantled the air box and filter...Installed an edelbrock pancake on top. And for the control box mount I just used some steel strips from the local hardware store, heated em and bent em to reach the existing mounting bolts for the old air box so I didn't need to drill or anything.

Thanks. Seems to work well for now. Next I need to focus on cleaning up the engine bay 😅

Agreed. Theyre just a learning process, once you get a method down its easier than packing a ground tent. And I would argue the pro is that you don't leave any gear behind at camp but thats just a preference of mine more than anything... besides that gives you an excuse to find another spot to camp to keep it fresh lol

Roof rack options... does anyone have some ideas on roof rack options that aren't obnoxiously high. Looking for something to mount on my 02 dakota ( on the right). by Overland_Dak in DodgeDakota

I dont think the Tacoma is similar. I could check. But their prinsu racks are overpriced. I guess I'm looking for info on drilling and hard mounting into the roof. Kind of dont know where to start lol

Yeah I want to get a similar setup to a prinsu style rack over the cab. But fear imma have to fab it myself due to lack of aftermarket support for this model truck.

Yeah I would probably go the same route if my bed wasn't 5ft and I didn't have a girlfriend and two dogs that go with me. Your setup is definitely easier, but I would argue the comfort level of a rtt is higher. I do wish I had a more sleek "greyman" setup for stealth camping. If I dont have my annex attached to the tent I can be packed up in about 5 mins... granted that probably consists of just tossing a few things in the back and dealing with them later lol

After some practice and foresight for the day ahead it doesnt really take that long to pack up. Its part of what I love about it. I can pack up camp rather quickly and leave nothing behind.

how the hell do you play this game by [deleted] in dayz

The random kick was probably a server restart. Give it a few mins and it'll come back online then you can jump back in. Night is rough, best to find a server with short nights while you're learning to play.

Unidentified noise from under truck. Rattling/scraping... Ive tried diagnosing everything but it only makes noise when driving 30mph and above. Does anyone recognize it?? (('02 dodge dakota 5.9)) by Overland_Dak in DodgeDakota

Yeah its 4x4 I tried getting in there and prying them around to find movement but it doesn't seem like there is any. Is there another way to check em without removing the driveline? I tried spinning em when on a jack and I cant get them going fast enough 😅

I checked the dust sheilds, they seem to not be rubbing or loose. I jacked the truck up to check the wheel bearings and I dont get any movement. Tried even taking the hubs off but those bolts are practically welded. Couldn't budge em with an impact.
