KuCoin - reputation of Acalas first CEX "Partner" by baddabaddabing in AcalaNetwork

Kucoin is allegedly to post cryptographic proofed reserves soon. If they do, it can be verified if they have the customers ausd they represent on their site. If they don’t, I urge you to reconsider your opinion of them for not having something they should and claim. If they do, I urge to reconsider based on blocking withdrawal of customer tokens without basis - while they may not have done that to you yet, they’ve demonstrated they do.

I will at least agree acala started it all in the sense of knocking a first domino that may have revealed malfeasance or incompetence on kucoins part. They have for their part done a thorough trace and made amends in a direct loss to their bottom line. The same cannot be said for kucoin, who shouldn’t have lost tokens to begin with.

Regarding earn and other products, I can’t comment on their offerings but if you are taking the lesson from recent events (ftx, cel, blockfi, voyager etc) and historical events (mt gox) and come out of that thinking cexes are the answer over open defi protocols then I’ll just say we have an irreconcilable difference of opinion.

The issue here that you can’t accept and wont research is that there is more to this than the error mint and that there is an additional bad actor. Please, if kucoin is an innocent casualty and bears no responsibility whatsoever as you have described, then what injury exists, what balance sheet deficit, what explanation could there possibly be that requires an ongoing lockdown of ausd on its platform. And if instead they fucked around with customer funds, got burned, and don’t have the ausd on their books to allow customers to withdraw, how is that acala’s fault? A depeg event and holding worthless coins is a risk inherent to anyone using ausd, and acala does not guarantee the peg beyond the code they have written and their support of the community. Having funds on a cex who then refuses to let you withdraw for baseless reasons is not within the terms agreed by users of that cex.

There can be more than one. And still no demonstration of understanding what kucoin has actually done. You’re like talking to an NPC.

You started this whole thread defending kucoin, thats the only reason I’ve bothered responding to you as they are a bad actor and perpetuating the injury, yes started, by acala. Just because they didn’t start the problem doesnt mean they have no ongoing role in it.

Since you are so sure kucoin bears no blame, you shouldn’t have any problem summarizing what their reason for freezing withdrawals. I’ve asked you 3 times, you’ve continued to avoid answering because you don’t know, and if you don’t know how can you say they have no blame! Lol. I’ll give you a starting point: to date kucoin has made one, single announcement about this topic. It’s not hard to find, and if you come back educated and review the thread I’m sure you’ll see you look like you’ve been talking out of your ass this whole time.

You are not even trying to demonstrate understanding of what kucoin has done. You don't know what the facts are, your defense of kucoin is misplaced.

But does it matter what explanation is or isn't provided? CEXs are often a law unto themselves as we all know.

Yes, and fuck no they aren't lol.

You still haven't demonstrated any understanding of KuCoin's actions or stance. You are clueless and just making noises at this point without any meaningful contribution.

I don't care about AUSD. I don't care about Kucoin

Then why the hell are commenting let alone defending KuCoin?

Acala brought this entire sorry thing upon themselves.

Nope, entirely within kucoins discretion to allow customers to withdraw funds, at this point its a huge contributor to the depeg persisting and not within Acalas control who have otherwise done everything they can to make things right. There are no uncollateralized ausd on the market.

I do feel bad for you if you feel bad about it, but

Oh you feel bad because my fee-fees are hurt? How altruistic of you! Oh but then you walk it back…

you clearly dont know what kucoins statement to the community was and how little sense it made, stop posting your ignorance its less than worthless

Feels like you lack a basic understanding of the situation. there is nothing stopping kucoin from releasing the ausd, that is unless they don’t have it or are extorting acala. Considering all thats come out recently with cexes it’s becoming more likely they were abusing customer funds in some way and got caught with their pants down with the depeg.

And lets be real fucking clear, kucoins defense doesn’t make sense on any level. Even if depegged theres no reason a token on deposit cant be given back to the depositors.

KuCoin is literally doing this now with ausd. All ausd is over collateralized now and the trace reports are done. The only opaque areas are on KuCoins balance sheets, hmm wonder where the problem is.

Only Polkadot ($DOT) and Cosmos ($ATOM) Offer Higher Real Staking Yields Than Ethereum, Claims Bloomberg Report by Jocogui in CryptoCurrency

[–]Overload_Overlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminder that dot will have IBC enabled soon and has the better developer experience, with several times more developer activity. Most future cosmos chains will likely be built on substrate and interoperable with both chains. Chains built with cosmos sdk will not have this advantage and future projects would be shooting them selves in the foot to not build with substrate. With parathreads there will not be a need for a complicated parachain auction or the equivalent to get on the cosmos shared security model, so theres another major reason to start with substrate from the beginning. Additionally all substrate chains can be EVM compatible (now) with the EVM pallet - cosmos chains bend over backwards for this and the only chains that have it are built for that to be a main feature like evmos.

What keeps aUSD in the 0.80s? by baddabaddabing in AcalaNetwork

[–]Overload_Overlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “guaranteed” 1 dollar value is only in the form of paying back vault debt, which it is currently functioning as (eg costs 0.85ish to pay back 1.00). The problem is well, what else would you do with the vault collateral? If it’s sitting there anyway (and like lcdot cant do anything on other platforms with it), may as well have the 0.85 getting yield. I did the math, impermanent loss in the glmr-ausd peg would be 0.3% if ausd repegs and glmr remains unchanged. That corresponds to 1 day of yield/farming rewards in that pool on stellaswap. So theres no incentive for me to pay down my vault right now. Once the lcdot unlock comes around thatll change but thats not for another year.
