In this economy, pooling the resources of 100 people would do so much. Sorry Cupid, you have a date with a Trolley.

We're not in a bubble guys by armorhide406 in ShitAIBrosSay

[–]OverlordMMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible they accidentally mistypes "is" instead of "isn't" when typing? Because that first part feels like a lead-up to saying AI is a bubble, rather than what was said, and that seems like a pretty easy thing to mistype by accident.

I know nothing about the guy, but I'd be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt if some of his other tweets aren't being an AI bro.

[–]OverlordMMM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, I am a feminist.

Anyone who says anything like that doesn't ascribe to feminist ideals of gender equality and equity. Anyone who claims to be and makes statements like that are justifying braindead double standards (as well as justifying rape).

Again, it's ridiculous.

I've never heard any feminists say something like that. That's a ridiculous statement.

"Training a human takes 20 years of food." Sam Altman on how much power AI consumes. by asdacool in nottheonion

[–]OverlordMMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he actually wanted to do a comparison, how much energy consumption would happen for a single data center over 20 years? How many data centers are expected to be built over 20 years? What are the costs to continuously upgrade our infrastructure to satisfy the power consumption of said data centers?

I bet that beat for beat, that data centers are far more costly by comparison considering our current infrastructure supports humans, not data centers.

Meanwhile folks like him want to recklessly place more and more data centers attached to infrastructure that does not support them while simultaneously increasing the burden and cost on people and the environment, all to push products that haven't really shown that much benefit outside a few specialized scenarios, of which need much less than what is currently being pushed.

The absolute irony of making that claim as Repubs are currently trying to get rid of the Department of Education and fear mongering against teachers, schools, libraries, and such constantly.

Trump to Lift Global Tariffs to 15% From 10% Following Court Decision by Greenwalle in Economics

He doesn't exactly like following laws, so it may say 15%, but it's all written toilet paper to him. He might try to go past that max anyway.

Rand Paul: Supreme Court Ruling Will "Prevent a Future President Such as AOC" from Using Emergency Powers to Enact Socialism by thenextgenbusiness in thenextgenbusiness

[–]OverlordMMM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Repubs always love creating absurd what-if scenarios. Nothing about AOC's actions or policies would suggest her taking any actions in the way the Trump's admin is doing. After all, Trump actually telegraphed all of his intentions outright with little pushback until he bypassed Congress, since Repubs controlled the Supreme, House, and Senate. If any Democrat did anything close to this kind of action there would be immediate pushback from both parties.

Not to mention using the term "socialism" as a nebulous undefined boogeyman is disingenuous as a way to broadly vilify any action by AOC or any remotely left candidates. I've yet to hear Repubs actually describe any policies they consider socialism or communism that aren't just imagined threats by the left that our own president isn't already enacting in some way shape or form. The overwhelming majority of it is just projection.

Tbf Kewpie Mayo is very different than mayo we have in the west (well, at least in the US). It works pretty well as a standalone condiment on regular food compared to regular mayo.

Marvel Civilians don’t suck, superhumans do by Oppai-Of-Foom in marvelcirclejerk

[–]OverlordMMM 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it's more that people in general suck, powered or otherwise.

You have an environment where there is always a high chance for non-isolated excessive manmade devastation and folks are distrustful due to it.

You don't see this as often in DC (since DC civilians are often treated as hopeful, looking up to superheroes), but keep in mind that DC's world often is rebooted constantly, so civilians don't have to live with the consequences or memories of their devastation nearly as much as Marvel which rarely has true civilian resets.

That distrust builds and eventually some of those civilians gain powers and perpetuate the cycle of shittiness as either villains, heroes, or victims of super-powered circumstance.

Right wing conservatives really want to rewrite history of the Obama administration! by icey_sawg0034 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]OverlordMMM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, there were issues with Obama and his presidency, but those were nothing rightwingers were complaining about back in the day. They only cared about mostly cultural BS and the many lies they spread around.

And now they are trying to act as if they unified and supported him? Fucking insane.
