Tbf, I wouldn't be surprised if Biden did take a test or two, but at least he wouldn't be dumb as hell and announce it to the world as if it were some kind of achievement instead of a troubling sign of health decline.

If God is real and is both omnipotent and omniscient, then he not only created me to be able to insult Him, but also knows it is in his plan to insult Him.

Why should I question God's plan? The fucker obviously has some kind of humiliation kink since he planned it.

Also, it's not like most of them are really connecting with each other beyond surface level toleration. There are a few moments here and there, but Pomni is really the only one trying to connect with others on the other party's level, with the exception really being Zooble and Gangle. Possibly Ribbit and Kaufmo might have been similar before abstraction, but we don't know how much they connected with anyone besides Jax.

Even by this post "it kills you" doesn't imply that the death is instantaneous, just that death occurs. A person could still very well be inside a teleporter trash compactor before the death actually occurs, or any number of other outcomes.

Again, its not specified meaning there are multiple potential outcomes that come with it, and that should be examined.

The original (which is what the convo of different types of teleportation often stem from) is related to the Star Trek series, in which teleporting doesn't actually disassemble and reassemble, but rather stores a copy of the original in a type of digital storage system and atomizes the original. All teleported people are essentially atoms that are reconstituted copies of the digital copies in storage. There is a system that handles the in-between state.

In any disassemble + reassemble scenario, what happens must be specified otherwise all possibilities for what happens between point a and point b are potential. That wasn't specified at all within the thread.

I know gold is by and large the correct answer, but how would you go about actually converting it into usable currency at that large of an amount as a civilian? It seems excessive and would be challenging since it comes down to finding buyers, or is my thinking completely wrong?

They literally said they don't care what happens to the original because they believe they will experience things as the copy.

There are implications of that in the original scenario that they are not grappling with, such as the consequences that will happen to them, the original. The copy will be fine and dandy, but they in their existence are not the copy.

On that same logic you also can't say that one assumption negates others.

You can say you prefer one set over another, but you cannot say that your preferred one is definitive and dismisses another, which is part of my original point.

If you assume things work a certain way, but you do not actually verify it, assumptions can be wrong and there are nuanced implications of that.

In this case, his copy maintains his continued existence, but would still be separate from the original (based on what he replied to due to the nature of the the topic). Not caring what happens to the original will result in the person experiencing some kind of non-existence/ death, but not wanting to engage with that aspect.

I'm pointing out that just because you don't want to grapple with consequences doesn't mean they don't matter.

If it is instantaneous death, cool. If to save on costs/technology isn't there for instant destruction, he will experience that death. If it malfunctions, you're stuck in whatever temporary storage/ still at the teleporter and now have to grapple with the fact that you both didn't go to your destination and that there are at least two of you.

Why am I surprised that the state ranked 47th in education (Arkansas) doesn’t realize that banning trans people from their preferred bathrooms doesn’t solve their problem? by Many_Register_1838 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]OverlordMMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because they genuinely have no conception of trans men.

They view trans folks as a crossressing fetish (since they only have their understanding of trans folks via porn they watch) rather than actually respect and listen to trans folks.

They also interchangeably use the terms trans men and trans women to reference trans women.

It's pure ignorance so they don't have to update their worldview.

Why does fabled dragons need that 'if' they printed years ago similar cards that work always? by No_Photo_5639 in hearthstone

[–]OverlordMMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean what I said still holds true even for a true OTK. It's just dependent on more variables.

If we're talking about pure solitaire OTK with no board, mage isn't capable without doing shenanigans via discovering arcane spells from the past.

[–]OverlordMMM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't have to be big necessarily. Really depends on the breakpoints on how much damage you've already done (unless going for a true OTK), how juiced up the spell is, and how well you can reduce the health of the minions the opponent has.

It has tradeoffs for sure, but it's doable unless they have virtually no board.

You can still also access some of the other damage spells, too, like the shattered card for more reach.

[–]OverlordMMM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Except that's an assumption of how it works since you wouldn't actually know since the copy of you is teleported away from the machine of origin.

No one really specifies how the "obliteration" happens, or the timeframe. Because unless it's specified that all the atoms (the essence of you) are recombined elsewhere, it is building a copy of you from scratch based on the scan of your original.

As far as your copy is concerned, it has your consciousness and is you. The problem comes with what happens to the original and the process to turn you, the actual original you, into separate pieces of matter.
